Statement of Purpose for Graduate Nursing School
Statement of Purpose

A patient whom I was caring for was in the final stages of dying requested a final task from me. The patient requested me to spiritually guide him in prayer as he knew
that his time on earth was short. I was not prepared for this duty nor had skills that had educated me on how to pray with a culturally diversed patient. I was
terrified but knew from my spiritual belief system how to pray for a human that was dying. I prayed with my patient and watched as he slipped into a coma then
subsequently his final breath. I believe my personal faith in God, the self concept as a public servant, and the respect for individual values placed me in a position
to carry out this patient’s wish. As a critical care nurse this learning experience would not be forgotten as it taught me the true meaning of holistic healing.

I have witnessed first hand the tremendous impact nurses have on the lives of the individual. My extensive years in critical care nursing and college have taught me
responsibility, compassion and gratitude for every learning opportunity that comes my way. I am now ready to embark on a new learning path, one that will lead me to
becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Early in my college years I was not sure of the career choice that I wanted to pursue. My G.P.A. reflects the accumulated classes from my younger years. Since realizing
|that I wanted to be a nurse I have obtained my Associate and Bachelors

Partner was transported by a C-135 aircraft to Lundsthul Regional Medical Center in Germany. He had surgery and a two stints imputed, and he stayed there in the hospital until he was fully recovered enough to travel. I petitioned the LORD several times, for Partner’s life, and his healing. I didn’t want Partner to be disabled and left in a well-chair on numerous medications, or his life adversely impacted, to the point that he would be medically discharged from the military. So I painted one picture in my mind; that Partner would be restored to wholeness. I started packing to make the trip to Germany. I felt that I had to go now. But a prophetic whisper on the wind sent a message, “Be Still and Know, that I am God.” The hardest thing for me to do in the midst of this storm was to do nothing. The Red Cross said that they would help me make arrangements to go visit, but I needed to focus my time on Partner’s prayer and healing. So I refused! I wanted to be obedient. I couldn’t allow myself to be distracted. Three times a day, I prayed, and I would send Partner my breath, [Puff! Puff! Puff!] and my prayers. I knew my son’s life was in the LORD’s hands, because His very Spirit is in every human being. I was…

Into the midst of the silence the priest's voice broke sad and deliberate, but consoling: "God will forgive you, Señor--Simoun, " he said. "He knows that we are fallible, He has seen that you have suffered, and in ordaining that the chastisement for your faults should come as death from the very ones you have instigated to crime, we can see His infinite mercy. He has frustrated your plans one by one, the best conceived, first by the death of Maria Clara, then by a lack of preparation, then in some mysterious way. Let us bow to His will and render Him thanks!"…
