Americas Socio Economic Evolution from 1492-1750

During the period of 1492-1750 the world experienced a process of transformation as the continents connected. In this era America experienced discovery and colonization from the Europeans. As a result, Native Americans entered a process of evolution. They were deeply influenced by the modern Europeans. Socially and economically they grew and evolved. All this changes influenced the Americas by influencing and shaping it. As a result of the blending of three regions: Western Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Socially America grew broader and economically it expanded but still not grew richer.

In 1492, Europe impulse America’s economy by introducing slave trade as Portuguese explorers got to Africa and discovered slave work. Once the slave labor started on America, it economically grew abnormally fast. Slave labor propelled America’s economy as soon as it was first implemented. The sugar industry grew and was sugar was exported to Europe. European demand for sugar was huge and America exported numerous amounts.

America economy grew fast but it didn’t grow richer. Europeans took huge advantage of American resources, not only food resources such as corn, squash, cacao, and sugar; but they also took a lot of mineral resources such as gold. Not only they used them but also they obtained them for a pretty good price. They guarantee making a profit by establishing slave plantations or by utilizing the encomienda system. The encomienda system was similar to slavery but conditions were better. In the encomienda system, encomenderos took responsibility for their Indian’s whom had charges and needed to pay tribute to the crown.

Socially America evolved as in Brazil were seen the first creoles (Spanish born in America). Also we mullatoes (Spanish and American descent parents) and zamboes (American and African descent parents) emerged and the social hierarchy changed. Now there was a more broadly distributed social class
