Sarah’s upbringing in such an affluent household meant that she was held to a certain level of standards and is expected to act a specific way according to the way her parents have brought her up. She is a bright and smart girl, which is shown in the fact that she exemplifies exceptional grades and is taking a majority of honors classes. The profile we were given about Sarah did not specify the type of friends that she had previously, which could be speculated that she did not have very many friends. Meeting these new girls, who showed interest in gaining a friendship with Sarah caused her to question her good judgment when it came to obeying the rules set forth by her parents, which she followed in the past. She has never missed her curfew in the past.…

The expected growth of the aging population in Louisiana is expected to grow and will have a tremendous impact on our healthcare system in the years to come. In the past, the increased growth of the aging population was not a problem. Presently it is becoming a problem. One major impact is the need for health care workers. Healthcare workers are decreasing because physicians and other health care workers are retiring. When people get older, they also need more healthcare services. The demand for healthcare services is growing because of the older adult population. Baby boomers from years ago are growing and maturing. In the meantime, fertility rates are declining. This is what is leading to the increased aging population in Louisiana. The aging population is living longer because of new technologies extending their years. Demographics are constantly changing and so are healthcare costs in result. The government is implementing plans to tackle the problems associated with the aging population. It is not an easy task. It is very challenging and difficult to implement successful changes. However, the future is looking very good for the aging population if the government can provide solutions to the barriers caused from the growth of the aging population.…

High levels of poverty and inequality not only lower the quality of democracy, but may pave the way for the emergence of authoritarian (strict) populists and democratic backsliding. Therefore, addressing the social question, which warrants attention in its own right, is critical to the sustainability and quality of democracy.…

The crowd was loud; it was hard to think. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I heard, “Ref! Check his Green Card! I bet he ran like that through the border!” This paper will address and explore the concept of prejudice from a personal incident that occurred during an important soccer game while attending high school. The above quote was made by a fan of the opposing team, Newark Academy, while playing at their home-field in Newark, New Jersey in late November of 2010. I attended The Dwight-Englewood School at the time, and it was our first time to the quarter-finals of the state-sectionals tournament two years in a row. This incident is a perfect example of how the phenomenon of social influence is represented in the real world, and how this term is used to define Social Psychology. Social Psychology refers to the study of how individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are influenced by the presence of people or the idea of external factors. Social Psychology is important because it helps us explore, predict, and reveal how a certain individual will behave in a given situation. Throughout this paper, I will develop my incident further and explore how the principles of social influence, prejudice, stereotypes, overconfidence barriers, and perceptual salience can be applied to my personal example in order to explain and represent a real-world example of Social Psychology.…
