Football consists of a team of talented, skilled individuals that display strength, power and speed to play the game. Without these traits, a player will certainly be a failure to the game and the team. It is a very rough form of entertainment that we all love to watch with our families and friends. It is rather ironic that although we do not promote players to hurt each other; in the game of football, we seem to send the opposite message that it’s alright to get hurt, nonetheless, a sport where players understand that in order to stand out amongst other players, the harder they exert effort into the game also increases their risk of sustaining unpredictable injuries.…
The other difference is the aim of the game. While football use touchdowns to score where the defense has to use every mean to stop the competing team from scoring. In this regard, a soccer team is considered as a whole. The defense depends on the team that has the ball at a time since some of the midfielders have to be involved in defense when the competing team is having the ball. In such a scenario, midfielders of the team that is controlling the ball will be acting as an offensive. In a soccer game, players strives to score a goal while in American football, it does not use goal as a way of scoring.…
“When I meet a European, the first thing I say is, “I’d much rather watch football than football.” But I’m just teasing them, and they know I’d really rather watch football than football.” (Jarod Kintz). Football and soccer are two very different sports but at the same time they do have some similarities. Football is very much a contact and strength sport and soccer is more of a technique sport. But football does require technique as well, and soccer requires more contact than one might think. Differences include scoring, gameplay, field size, equipment, and game length.…
There are many other differences between these sports. For example, in football, the game is a series of plays of short bursts of action; after each play both teams then regroup to prepare for the next play. The difference in Rugby is that the action stops for shorter periods of time, this is because after a player is tackled, the ball is quickly rolled to a teammate, and play resumes. Lastly, Rugby is a more international sport, whereas football is played mostly in the continent of North…
Football is one of America’s most beloved sports and with the super bowl coming up; fans of the sport are getting ready for the big game. I am an avid football fan myself and love playing it as much I enjoy watching it. What I have come to notice recently, is how the lives of football players are drastically changed when they are off the field. Football is a full contact sport, if you’re not prepared or unprotected at any given time during a play, you could end up limping off the field nursing injuries or even leave the game on a stretcher.…
Soccer is a sport with a rich competitive tradition celebrated by millions of people spread over more than 200 countries on six continents. However, soccer can be very hazardous to the player, professional, or the common fan who picks it up, playing soccer could result in several devastating injuries such as, a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), stress fractures, and concussions, which all have negative effects on a player’s performance.…
With the severity of injuries during the past, it is kind of surprising to most people that now it is considered one of the safest sports around. The ones who play it do not have to worry about major injuries like those who play football games, which is very similar to soccer. Players do not have…
Football is a game of great skill and strategy. We love its excitement and tradition. And yes, it can be hazardous. I was fortunate; I survived a rare (but not uncommon) incident. But others (like Damon Janes recently) aren’t — and won’t be — so lucky.…

Many sports related injuries do not just happen to professional teams but occur on youth, high school, and college teams. Concussions, knee sprains, stress fractures happen often and are now considered common injuries. Parents do not get overly worried, like they should, due to the severity of these injuries that happen to their children. In reality, the real problems are how parents encourage their children to be extremely competitive on the field and play aggressively, the amount of traumatic injuries that occur on the field, and how it is affecting the futures of young athletes. These are the reasons why youth sports are becoming too violent to be safe for children.…

This isn’t a football paper. This isn’t a medical paper. This is the modern challenge of breaking from a nation’s traditions for safety. For as long as one can trace back history, humans have always been obsessed with the act of competitive violence. While in the modern age we might have shied away from events such as gladiators and duels, our modern forms of sport tend to take on a brutal nature entirely their own. Of these modern sports perhaps none is more physical then American football. In fact, the sport is largely comprised of and designed around the act of violence, with men of all different shapes and sizes throwing each other around with no regard for physical well-being. However this is where the interest of health and popular appeal contradict each other. While no one player has the intention to hurt another player, the game thrives on its violent nature. For example, if one were to go to a game and only listen, they would hear the crowd become its loudest at two moments during competition. First, more obviously, is when the home team scores points, however second is when one player delivers a blow to another in such a fashion to jar the player off the ground and dismantle him in to the grass. However is that not the American way? Is the wish to see competitive violence not built into every American?…
Football, as many may know, is the leading cause of youth sports concussions. Countless players, from young people to pro competitors, still stay in endangerment (Nader). People say that athletes know the risks, but do they really? A dramatic change is essential! In spite of all the attempts to make football a safer sport, we have still come up short.…
In the United States one of the most popular professional sports is football, yet there is another sport which is gaining popularity in this country known as soccer. Although there are some similarities to the two sports, like both having eleven players on the field at a time, there are some very distinctive differences between football and soccer.…
