Skin Stealer Flaws
The curious thing about life is that there are flaws everywhere. No perfections made in life, but yet some flaws can lead to bigger mistakes. Skin Stealer by Shel Silverstein and Ladies First by Shel Silverstein both show how a small mistake can lead to something bigger.

Both texts are about how doom of one person can be caused by a small mistake that happened previously. In Skin Stealer it states, “ he’s the coo-coo who’s wearing my skin.” This shows that the character’s skin was stolen by a coo-coo. This is important because something must of happened to lead to this. Perhaps leaving the window open or even the front door. Another example comes from Ladies First, saying,” from back of the line, in that shrill voice of hers, Pamela Purse

To support this, Skin Stealer says,”and while I slept a coo-coo came.” This shows how the sleeping person must have done something wrong for someone to get into their house and steal their skin. This is important because if that hadn’t have happened, the skin wouldn’t have been stolen and the night would continue to be peaceful. In Ladies First it states,” Pamela Purse yelled,” ladies first,” pushing in front of the ice cream line.” This shows that she must be treated well to believe that she has every right to push people out of the way so she can be first. This is important because that causes her death later on and it would only be her fault. Trouble is everywhere and you can’t hide from it. Just go ahead and try. But there’s one thing to remember, never make the ones where you’ll come to the end before time.

The two texts, both written by Shel Silverstein, support an idea that some small mistakes can lead to one's untimely end. In the beginning it starts off how one's skin was stolen and a girl ends up losing her life. As time goes on, during the middle, all learn how it came to those unfortunate events. At last in the end, we go to the beginning, to show how this all started. Now the end is here, so let's great it well. Even small mistakes can lead to something

Both text have a similar theme, they both compare someone being trapped in something. Both characters want to escape what they are trapped in. For example, in the story "Boy's Life" the character is stuck in school and can’t wait until the bell rings. Which means that he is trying to leave or escape the place he is in, but he is held for a longer time because the teacher wants to discuss something with him and he doesn’t pay attention when she is talking to him which means he doesn’t have patience to listen all he wants to do is leave.…

The stories although similar have multiple differences. One difference is that Brother tried to change who Doodle was. He pushed Doodle really hard, at first to walk and then other things, like learning how to swim. On the other hand, in the story “Forever” Tim accepted Richard for who he was. Although Tim had a different perspective because he was also disabled, so his point of view was different than Brother’s. Brother was normal and a little kid, he just wanted a normal brother to do things fun things with. Another difference between the two stories is that in “Forever” Tim’s death was expected, the…

Their endings are almost exactly the same they both say evil will come back. In the poem it states “ And from this nothing seen, tells of new devils, Which of expression be out of inward evil”(Lord Brooke) which is almost exactly the same has in the book when it states” ‘Dad, will they ever come back?’ ‘No.And yes.’ Dad tucked away his harmonica. ‘No not them. But yes, other people like them. Not in a carnival. God knows what shape they'll come in next. But sunrise, noon, or at the latest, sunset tomorrow they'll show. They're on the road.’ ‘Oh, no,’ said Will. ‘Oh, yes, said Dad. ‘We got to watch out the rest of our lives. The fight's just begun.”(Bradbury pdf 158-159). As mentioned, the stream of consciousness continues throughout this story. Sometimes the protagonist inserts her deep, sharp thoughts in the middle of a paragraph that has little to do with the original conversation. And sometimes she inserts a word that is off-putting, a word that does not match the rest. Although some may argue that this takes readers away from the fictional dream, the case, it seems, is that it corresponds just as well with her random outbursts of thought. The word is often placed in the center of her normal, regular speech. This makes the word choice seem authentic. It does not beg readers to focus on it, but accept the brief change in diction. On page 27, the text reads, “Cleaning women do steal. Not the things the people…

The meaning of what the authors are intending to communicate is absolutely clear and obvious, the readers do not have to read between the lines to guess what they are saying. Strunk and White (1999) encouraged the writers to use a level of speech and language that is accessible to the readers, not to use clichés, jargon or long or unfamiliar words. According to Joseph (1990), in order to make readers feel what they are reading is clear and direct, “the subjects of the sentences name the cast of characters and the verbs that go with those subjects name the crucial actions those characters are part of”…
