Shaun White made history in the 2012 Winter X Games by being the first person ever to land a Front Side Double Cork 1260 in the half-pipe competition (Bane). In simpler terms, the professional snowboarder completed two corked, or slightly tilted, flips while also making three and a half rotations. Considering the trick’s great difficulty, White earned a perfect score of 100 for being the first to conquer the maneuver. In order for someone to land this trick, they must first understand how it works. The key to mastering elite tricks like the Double McTwist 1260, the Front Side Double Cork 1260, and the Triple Cork 1440 is to master the four basic steps of each trick: the takeoff, completing the spins, finding the landing, and landing.…

All Martina ever wanted was to learn how to ride a skateboard . Despite Martina´s pleading, any attempt at using her older brother’s board would invite a shrieking response. “Don’t touch that!”, he would shout. Seeing her determination, Martina’s mother bought her a skateboard. Practicing secretly every day, Martina built her skills and her confidence. When she finally felt ready to prove her ability, Martina asked one last time to use her brother’s board. Surprisingly, he gave in to the request but with little encouragement. “Okay, little girl, give it your best shot”, he laughed. Martina smiled as her hands gripped the rough edges of the board. She knew she would skate away his sarcasm.…

Don't be over complicated, in most of our situations the hazards are few and simple. Checking them is common sense, but necessary. You probably already know whether, for example, you have equipment that could cause harm, or if there is an awkward entrance or stair where someone could be hurt. If so, check that you have taken what reasonable precautions you can to avoid injury.…

I remember reaching the top of the hill with a very excited feeling. As I got to the top, the instructor at the top helped me off the chair. I waited for the other instructor to explain how I control my movements. While he was talking, all I thought about was hitting a tree and embarrassing myself. I just stood there looking at his red nose and chapped lips. He finally said something I found useful, he told me to lean whichever way I wanted to steer. After he finished explaining, I just went down that big hill of snow.…
