Similarities Between Football And Religion

For some people, football is just another form of sport or entertainment. For some others, it is not. Countless people play it and many more regularly keep in touch with the industry. Football, is like a religion to some; it plays an important role to people who look for shelter from alienation and such. Can football, then, be categorized as football? In this essay, I am going to discuss the similar qualities between the two, as well as the important aspects of religions.
It is often difficult to distinguish football from religions in general. Religions have a purpose of helping people to cope with their anxiety; to fulfill their psychological needs. Religions bring people to be part of their communities by making those people believe in the

From those similarities only, it can already be concluded that football can serve as a religion to some people. In my opinion, the bigger purpose of religions is to fill in the void in which people are scared of, for instance: the fear of death, humans' undoing, or to explain why we exist in this reality. With the presence of football, people who are anxious about those issues can be distracted and only enjoy the present. Given that, football--or any other form of entertainment--can replace the role of religions, although I realize that there are some aspects that only religions can ultimately give.
A religion needs a God, in my opinion, because it will then be easier for the followers to understand or believe in the teachings of that religion.
