Sibulan National High School Intoduction
Sibulan National High School was established on May 1970 through a Municipal Resolution by the Sangguniang Bayan. The Sangguniang Bayan then was headed by the late Honorable Atty. Ricardo D. Abiera who at the time was the Municipal Mayor of Sibulan.

With only about 120 students for the first and second year and with only 5 teachers, it started its first year of operation during the school year 1970-1971. Classes then were housed in Magsaysay Memorial School under the supervision of the elementary principal. Then it was transferred within the Municipal Hall grounds under the supervision of a full time School Head, Mrs. Carmelina D. Renacia. Enrolment continued to increase so do with the number of teachers. School buildings were constructed at the back of the public market to house the first and second year students.

The continued increase in enrolment urged then the school head together with the PTCA officials to request from the Diocese of Dumaguete for a donation of an area located at the back of the Roman Catholic Church. Because of this donated lot the school became the first recipient of the SEDP package which comprises buildings, furniture and laboratory equipments for Mathematics, Science and Practical Arts classes. Later, the school also received 20 units of Computer from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in collaboration with the Department of Education. Installation expenses and air conditioning system were provided by the PTCA and the LGU. The Ayala Foundation together with internet service provider, Globe now involve through their Youth Tech connection with one year free subscription fee of the internet.

Knowledge Channel Incorporated also gave the school one unit of 30” Akira TV set with free monthly cable subscription. This is installed in the library so that students as well as teachers can see some demonstration lessons in different subject areas most especially in Science, Mathematics and

The tank tops worn by students at Upper Perkiomen High School should not completely eliminated without spoken reasoning. Listed as the seventh rule in the student handbook, it is stated, “Tank tops, tube tops, halter tops, muscle shirts, and garments with spaghetti straps are not permitted in school” (52). This rule states that students may not wear any top that does not cover their shoulders. My thought process, and many other students, believe this rule is absurd and has no true meaning. Students have never been clarified on why this rule is in place, although we are expected to follow it. Is it because the administrators think possible bra straps are provocative? Is it just plainly because they think shoulders are distracting? Students…

Mystery surrounded the school for many decades referring to the actual beginning of the school. Diplomas found in the school vault show that the first students were in 1882 and the first graduating class was in 1886 with that class containing only four students. At the time the school was a small barn that could only accommodate those four students, but in 1895 the school built a two story wooden building with an auditorium, science laboratories, and library which the school was made to fit 250 students. At the cost of $5,100 which is equivalent to $145,000 the first…

To begin with, in the year 1950-1951 through energetic Mayor Marciana V. Mariano, the school of Sta. Brigida was initiated to be opened. During those days the school site was purely a wilderness and abode of wild animals. Luckily in July 1950, some of the loyal and hardworking men in the persons of Mr. Severo de Leon Villamin, and Mrs. Ricardo Cruz a barrio lieutenant, and P.T.A. President. They made a petition signed by all the residents of the place that the community is in dire need of a school site and building to house their future and present citizens. With God’s blessing the petition was granted and approved in August 1952 with Mr. Potenciano Antonio being the first supervisor. Through his dynamic guidance and supervision a school building was sprung up from the good coordination, help and untiring effort to good people of Sta. Brigida. A lady teacher was assigned in the person of Miss Marcelina Urbos to organized Grade I classes. The class was first housed temporarily in a private house until finally a school site has been surveyed by Engineer Felemon Ordono and approved by the government under proclamation No. 51 Series of 1962 by the late President Macapagal.…

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Education (DepEd) is confident that it will be able to ease classroom shortage and other gaps in basic education in the next two years with continued support from various education stakeholders. During the formal turnover of the proceeds from the Jollibee's Build- A-Classroom project, Education Secretary Armin Luistro said that while DepEd budget allocation for 2011 increased by some 19 percent, it could hardly match the resource requirements of at least one million new entrants to the public school system every year. "Aside from preparing classrooms from at least one million new entrants to the public school system every year, we are also bracing ourselves to the additional batch of pupils in kindergarten which has become compulsory beginning school year 2011-2012 and we also need to build new classrooms each year to replace ageing school buildings and those that were destroyed by calamities," Luistro said. Data from DepEd showed that classroom shortage in the country stands at over 152,000 on a single shift to meet the 1:45 ideal classroom to students' ratio. "However, we are confident that the department can close the classroom shortage gap in two years if the fund matching trend continues and if it finds more public and private partners who can come up with creative ways to fund school building construction," he said. According to Jollibee Vice President for Marketing Albert Cuadrante, the Build-A-Classroom project is part of the "Maaga ang Pasko" campaign which aims to collect books and toys to be distributed to children in need. "We wanted to open more channels for people to help so we came up with the campaign. Through this, donated a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the limited edition Jollibee and Friends Dolls will go to the Build-a-Classroom project," Cuadrante said. Last year, over 400,000 Jollibee and Friends Dolls were sold from which a total of P12 million was raised to fund the construction of public…

The significance of schooling in one’s life is tremendous and incontrovertible. It is the inextricable thread that weaves a child’s life. Schools are an epitome of learning, knowledge, and education, an essence expressed by Victor Hugo in his deftly-woven words, “He who opens a school door, closes a prison.” Schooling is that stage of one’s life when a child grows, matures and discovers himself/ herself. In other words, a tiny tot metamorphoses into a young lad. My school is in a residential area. Silence pervades the classrooms, occasionally interrupted by the chaotic din of traffic, blaring loudspeakers, etc. The quadrangular building boasts a magnificent reception, embellished with modern furnishings, an enviable decor, marble flooring and glass walls on three sides. The fourth is a cemented wall adorned with credentials in every field— sports, music, dance, art, etc.—which speaks volumes about the talent it…

When I was asked to write a graduation speech for an audience of over 5,000 people, I immediately made up my mind not to do it. When tag-teamed by a collection of teachers and faculty members, I asked, seriously, "What happens if I just don't do it?" Dropping out of school crossed my mind, as did asking all of my teachers to fail me. You see, I am not the type of person who enjoys the spotlight or someone with an infinite amount of wisdom to share.…
