Should We Prevent Honeybees?
It is extremely important that we prevent honeybees from being turned into zombies. To start, “ Scientist are working to get to the bottom of this spooky situation.” This proves that honeybees are being killed more that they usually are. Additionally, “ In 2008, he spotted bees walking in circles on the sidewalk outside of his lab at San Francisco University in California.” This supports that bees are being turned into zombies. Also, “ A couple of weeks later he realized that the bees had died and that the container was filled with tiny fly pupae. This shows that it is bad for us that bees are being turned into zombies because there are more flies flying around. That is why it is extremely important that we prevent honeybees from being turned

He notices something extremely strange about one of the bees. It has a tiny red spot on its body about the size of a pinhead and the bees wings are crumpled like a piece of paper. It turns out that the tiny red spot is a varroa mite and it sucks out the honeybees blood. First “When a female zombie fly lands on a honey bee she injects fly eggs into it.” This is saying that the fly injects the eggs into the bee. Next,”Soon after the larvae hatch within the bee and feed on its insides.” Doing so the larvae kill the bee. Finally, “When the larvae are ready they burst out of the bees body.” This is saying that the bee is really dead. Therefore, we need to stop or get rid of zombie flies because we need bees to help us grow crops…

Honeybees depend on nectar, pollen and water collected from their environments to survive. A process that exposes them to pesticides if contaminated pollen and nectar (Mullin et al., 2010), surface water (Ssebugere et al., 2009b), floral secretions produced from some plants (Gontijo & Moscardini, 2014) and exudation excreted from plants (Girolami et al., 2009) are harvested. Once collected, they store this food inside beehives hence contaminating the brood, beeswax and honey with pesticides if present. Presence of pesticide residues in food like honey has been reported detrimental to human health (Wesseling & McConnell, 1997) and products known to contain such residues are usually banned from trade causing beekeeper’s economic losses in unsold…

I was quite shocked to hear how much the bumblebee populations have decreased overtime. I was also unaware of how much of an impact these insects have on us, and the importance of protecting them. Bumblebees are absolutely fundamental to our existence, as they are responsible for much of our food supply, because of their ability to pollinate. However, making the public more aware of this issue is essential to helping save these bees. Laws need to be passed soon that bans the use of certain pesticides that are harming these bees. Research should also be conducted to see what diseases may be affecting the bee population and ways to combat this issue. Due to habitat loss being a big factor that is affecting these bees, artificial bee habitats should be created across the country to see if they help to increase the populations. Although this issue will take years to resolve, finding the best methods to helping to increase these bumblebee populations is crucial while we still have…
