Should College Athletes Be Paid For The Sport That They Play In College?

Athletes should not be paid for the sport that they play in college. College can be a wonderful thing for athletes and people can get full ride scholarships for playing a sport. It is argued that these athletes should be paid for the amount of revenue they bring into their schools. However this is not the case. A lot of schools actually lose out on money for college athletics. When you think about it as well college athletes are in pretty comfortable positions if they use their resources to their full potential. There would actually be more problems created instead of problems solved and it would cost these schools even more money. A lot of factors play into this but some of the main factors is that college athletes are paid through their tuition, a lot of colleges couldn’t afford it, and that only some athletics would be paid. Nobody is going to argue with you on the fact that anyone would take a college athletes scholarship. People like to argue that these athletes put so much time into the sport and bring in so much money for the schools and don’t receive anything in return. When in reality the scholarship is what they are
College athletes are already payed through their tuition and are receiving way more than enough money to live comfortably for their college years. And with all the meal plans and training they receive from the coaching staff and benefits these athletes will have no problem being healthy. Not all colleges would be able to afford paying their athletes either. Schools outside of the big ten don’t make nearly as much money and don’t even profit from the athletics. Finally only some athletics would be affected by this increase in pay. Not all sports are the same and only the more popular ones would receive these benefits due to the revenue that they bring in. This however leaves all the other athletes out to dry when they work just as hard both in the class room and out of the class
