Session Observation
I read your evaluation and have been continuing to work on session pacing. I did have a question about one student today. The student included in her session request a large pdf file that looked like a summer packet for an AP chemistry course, including what appeared to be a cover letter from the teacher. The student was not responsive and shortly left the session while I was looking through the prescripts. I included a noted the potential personal information in the session notes.

The student shortly recconected and I asked if the document contained any personal information. The student responded that it did not and I went to the problem that she wanted to work on. In an effort to focus on the problem the student wanted help with I did

Horn taught two courses with two sections of one course (e.g., EDSC 518 and EDSC 547) with 8 students in EDSC 547 and 25 students in each of the EDSC 518 sections. The quantitative faculty evaluation means ranged from 2.37 to 2.85 with a total mean of 2.65. Even though not part of this evaluation period, it is important to note that Dr. Horn was an adjunct instructor during the 2016 Summer II term for the MAT program, teaching two sections of EDSC 508. In Dr. Horn’s annual faculty evaluation activity log, she provided “Other Evidence” to support effective teaching. This evidence included items aligned with A) Course evaluation narratives, F) Professional development, and G) Student supervision. The qualitative portions of the evaluations revealed consistent comments referring to Dr. Horn’s strengths in the classroom as being knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate about the subject matter. In general, her students state that she provides real-life stories and experiences that enhance her instruction. Dr. Horn’s students provided consistent feedback for improvement that suggests the need for organization; clarity and consistency of expectations for assignments and instruction; effectiveness of responses to questions; timeliness of grading; consistency of grading aligned to rubrics; and use of cell phone during…

I observed Mrs. Ball’s 7th grade science class at Helen Tyson Middle School on Thursday November 5, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated with interesting scientific educational material. She had the desks set up in organized rows with two kids per table. This set up allowed for less interaction between the kids because they were so spaced out, which seemed to keep them on task. The dynamics in the classroom were great. She connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. She was very in control of the class and the students seemed to respond well to her. The students interacted pleasantly with one another and were were all very welcoming. They came into class, sat down, and got right to work.…

Lucy obtained the midterm exam from the photocopying machine. The definition of “obtain” in the Merriam Webster Online Dictionary means “to hold on to, or possess.” In the case of Lucy she had possession of the test when she picked it up from the photocopy machine. This fact shows that Lucy did obtain the exam. The UHD Academic Honesty Section 2.2 labeled Academic Honesty Violations, Bullet 3, states that “obtaining and/ or using unauthorized material.” Lucy did violate this section of the policy. Lucy also used the essay topic seen on the exam copy to prepare for her test. She knew the main essay topic and was able to use the “unauthorized material” from the test to make an outline of the topic and present it on the test day. Paragraph 2, Sentence 2 page 410 states, “As soon as Prof. Sanders handed out the exam, she glanced at the essay question, picked up her pen, opened her examination book, and began writing.” The definition of “unauthorized” from the Merriam Webster Dictionary means “unapproved.” Since Lucy did not have Prof. Sander’s permission to look at his test and familiarize herself with the essay topic is in fact unapproved and is a violation under the UHD Honesty Policy.…

I was sat with the teacher one morning before the children came into school because that is when we do our planning for the child I support or we modify anything that he has to be supported with in class. I noticed that the teacher had planned an arts and craft lesson that involved the use of tissue paper, the child that I support does not like the touch or feel of tissue paper (I had done an activity with him the other week which had resulted in him refusing to anything…
