Police coaching is also believed to have taken place during the questioning of Jay. Within the police files, there is a document labeled ‘Jays Crinology’ and a few maps that show where cell towers are located and pinged throughout the day of the event. The document referring to what Jay’s activities is a numbered list with twenty four events that took place on the day of Hae’s disappearance. It is believed that the police were helping Jay remember the points on that list by reminding him about details that he forgot about. For example, detective McGillivray sighs of exasperation and points out that Jay and Adnan have both Hae’s car and Adnan’s car at one point in time, and Jay forgets about the detail of still having both cars. Jay says, “We…

One thing you should know is that Adnan’s phone pinged from a cell tower by Leakin Park, the way cell towers work is that if you are in the range of a cell tower, the one you are nearest to is the one that will connect. If you remember earlier I stated that Jay had Adnan’s phone at this time, and if you are wondering what reason there would be for Jay to have a grudge on Adnan, well remember Jay's girlfriend she is also Adnan’s best friend, and on top of that during a dance they were both crowned king and queen instead of Jay and her. While this would not give most people a reason to frame someone, it might have been to Jay. To many people Jay was always a very weird and mean kid while to others he was goofy, but there was an instance when he was talking to a friend of his and they started joking around, jay told his friend he “should to know what it's like to be stabbed” and took out his knife, his friend then said “no I don't want to know, why don't you?” and then Jay pretended to try to stab him to which the guy held his hand and they both began to wrestle. This puts Jay in a very tight spot, but even with this there is one evidence that looks especially bad for Adnan and that is the Nisha call. The Nisha call happens at 3:37 pm the afternoon of Hae’s disappearance and it puts Adnan with Jay which in turn collaborates with Jay's story and makes Adnan’s alibi that Jay had his phone invalid.…

Jay says in two different investigations that the call came in around 3:45 but according to the records they came in at 2:36. The records also show that Jay was not at Jenn’s house from 12pm to 3:40pm (like he and Jenn said) that leaves the following; Jay was in the area of Hae’s last-known location at the time that she went missing, and Jay has no alibi for where he was during that time period. Thus, Jay can’t be at Jenn’s house, as he and Jenn told the police over and over. The records show the phone near Woodlawn the entire time of Hae’s (probable) abduction and(or) murder. The same phone was being used to call “Jenn house” at the same time. Adnan has no reason to call Jenn. Did Jay call Jenn?…

On February 25, 2000 Adnan Syed’s world came crumbling down around him. Adnan was convicted to life plus thirty years for the murder of his high school ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee. Although Adnan was convicted, he is not guilty. The prosecution's case was shaky and was built around one witnesses constantly changing testimony. The witness was Jay Wilds, the neighbourhood drug dealer and a former schoolmate of Adnan’s. As well as the prosecution's main witness being unreliable, the cell phone tower data that they used to convict Adnan says on the cover sheet that the cell phone data from incoming calls can't be used to reliably and precisely locate a cell phone. Lastly, the autopsy report of Hae Min Lee showed fixed frontal lividity, the phenomenon…

    Adnan Syed Case

What would it be like if a person was convicted as guilty, but was really innocent? The murder of Hae Min Lee was committed on January 13, 1999. The person found guilty of this crime was Adnan Syed. Adnan was Hae’s boyfriend for a while and they were happy together, according to friends. Sarah Koenig is just a random person to Adnan Syed. She was told about the case by Rabia Chaudry whose brother was Adnan’s friend. Sarah heard what Rabia had to say about the case and was very interested. Since that time, she has done a podcast called, Serial. After investigating, it is clear that Adnan Syed is innocent because after school on the day of the murder, Adnan talked to Asia McClain at the library for a few minutes at 2:30 p.m., Adnan did not obsess over Hae after their breakup, and Mr. S was going to use the restroom in Leakin Park where he found Hae.…

The reason the other side believes Adnan is guilty is because of one person; no, not Adnan himself; Jay, who says Adnan told him he was going to kill Hae. More importantly, Jay himself says that Adnan showed Hae’s body to him, as put: “I noticed that Hae wasn't with him. I parked next to him. He asked me to get out the car. I get out the car. He asks me, am I ready for this? And I say, ready for what?” And he takes the keys. He opens the trunk. And all I can see is Hae's lips are all blue, and she's pretzeled up in the back of the trunk. And she's dead.” (Episode I, Page 10). Jay is claiming to have been shown the body of Hae, and he is placing Adnan at the very scene of the crime. How believable is Jay, because according to Sarah and Bill Ritz, Jay’s story repeatedly keeps on changing. Sarah explains to the audience, “I put it to Bill Ritz when I talked to him briefly on the phone. Jay's story kept changing. You were catching the inconsistencies and he was having to explain them and clean up his story. So what ultimately made you believe him? Ritz said they believed Jay's story because “we were able to investigate and corroborate what he was saying.” (Episode 4, Page 68). Jay’s inaccuracies are either due the the fact that he…

If Adnan Syed did not remember specific events on the day of Hae Lee’s murder, then he murdered her. Adnan’s best friend Jay, was interviewed and he told his story about how Hae was murdered in 1999. Jay was very specific in his testimony of what happened on the day of Hae’s death. He remembered specific details, from when Adnan dropped him off at school, to when he and Adnan burried Hae’s…

In the tapes of Jay’s interview with investigators the listener often hears a tapping noise. That tapping noise isn’t made by Jay, but by the investigators. The investigators aren’t shy about giving away certain details or wording the question differently so that Jay ends up saying what they want to hear. While it is a serious allegation to point the fingers at the cops for trying to twist the truth or come up with their own story, it is not unlikely for police to do such a thing. In Undisclosed episode three, author Susan simply clearly states what she thinks is really going on in the tapes with Jay and the detectives, “The detectives are repeatedly bullying Jay into giving answers that they want. The detectives will tell Jay that he needs to give a certain answer, and again and again Jay complies. He does say what they tell him to say, and it’s not that subtle either.” Jay was only looking out for himself, he didn’t care if Adnan got charged with Hae’s murder. He and the detectives were determined to have their story made to look credible by Jay so that they could convict…

Why Is Hae Min Lee Murder

Jay came clean about dealing drugs to the detective and Jay doesn’t really have anything else in Adnan but his word. Adnan was a outstanding student in school, he was Prom prince his junior year, he was involved in sports, and he was very serious about his religion. There was no behavioral evidence that made anyone think that Adnan Syed would murder anyone let alone Hae Lee. In Hae’s car where Adnan supposedly had Hae’s body and that Jay supposedly witness Adnan barry her…

In conclusion , Adnan is innocent because they didn’t have enough evidence to prove Adnan wrong, there key witness was lying and changing things up . Even though Adnan proves that he is innocent , he could be guilty , he shows he is ultimately innocent because if you look closely , they didn’t really look at other people that made Adnan sound good, and in trial they were being racist, and unfair to him . What I mostly learned from this project is to always be ready for anything because you never know when it will be you.…

The next point on why Adnan is guilty is because of Jay's solid testimony. Jay shows police exactly where hae's car is and leads them to it . ("Once they're finished at headquarters, they all drive out in the middle of the night to where the car is parked, on a grassy hill behind some row houses off Edmondson Avenue. Within a few hours, they'll have a warrant for Adnan's arrest.") Jay knew exactly where Hae’s car was and shows the police exactly where its at. Jay had a big role in this murder and Adnan is still acting like nothing happened. Jay might have some inconsistencies, but he is very consistent with his information and perspective of this whole mess. While in Serial Sara try’s and make him look like a big time drug dealer to try and…

In his stories he changes times and places constantly, but I don’t know if it’s just not being able to remember or if he’s changing his story because he doesn’t remember what lies he said last time they interviewed him. Something that doesn’t seem right is that Adnan says that track practice ends at 4:30 or 5 and Jay states that he dropped him off then. I think Adnan knows what he’s saying because he’s been going to track for most of highschool so he would remember when it starts and stops. One thing that noticeably changes is the mall that Jay says they went to. First he states that they went to Westview mall but, in his second interview and in his testimony in the second trial, he states that they went to Security Square mall. One other thing that i think is kind of odd is what Jay says he did after dropping Adnan off at school. It’s different in all 3 of his interviews. First he just goes to Jenn’s house and stays for 3 hours. Then he goes to Jenn’s and she isn’t there but he plays video games with her brother and tells Jenn that Adnan is going to kill Hae. Finally, his trial is the most jumbled one. He goes to Jenn’s and plays video games with her brother. Then leaves to finish shopping, he was shopping with Adnan before school but Adnan denies that they went shopping, with Jenn’s brother. Finally he returns her brother and Jenn gets back from work. He never tells Jenn that Adnan is going to kill hae in his testimony. I would think that that’s some crucial evidence that he left out in two out of three of his interviews. If Jay’s time estimates during the testimony are right, his story is an hour off of what the cell phone towers say. Now that doesn’t look good at all for Jay because it proves that he is lying or changing up his…

    Ottie Toole: Serial Killer

Ottie Toole, a serial killer from Jacksonville, Florida, was an accomplice of Henry Lee Lucas, who was also a serial killer. They met at a soup kitchen in Jacksonville, Tennessee, where they began a sexual relationship and crime partnership. “Toole later claimed to have accompanied Lucas in 108 murders, sometimes at the behest of a cult called “The Hands of Death”. Lucas later recanted his confessions, saying he made such statements only to improve his living conditions in jail.” (Newton, 2015). Toole lied to get more respect from the people in jail, most likely for him to fit in and get respect. In 1984, Toole was convicted of setting a fire that killed a 64 year old man named, George Sonnenberg. He was sentenced to death for that…
