Selena Quintanilla is an influential person in the Tejano music industry because she was a living legend, a leader to female musicians, and she never gave up even when her family and career were at stake. Childhood and early life
Selena Quintanilla, born April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas (Source 1). At the age of six her father recognized her beautiful singing voice. Then started to come up with the idea to make a band with her family members (Source 2). At the age of 10 , Selena became the lead singer of a band called Selena Y Los Dinos, including her brother, Abraham (Ab) and sister, Suzette(Source 1). She was shot and killed by Yolanda Saldiver, the president of her fan club (source 1).Yolanda was about to be fired for embezzling money. Before she was found for doing that she was managing Selena’s boutique (source 1). Her death was a tragic loss to people all over the world. The CD with her all English album sold 175,000 copies on the first day (Source 2). Selena became the first Latino artist to reach number one on the billboard charts.Because she died before she finished all of the album.     Different areas that speak Spanish have different dialects. Some of these areas do consider people from other areas to be outsiders. An example would be people from Mexico are not necessarily accepting of people from Puerto Rico because they consider the Puerto Ricans to be outsiders even though they are both Spanish speaking countries.
