School Sports Persuasive Speech
Are your kids in school sports? Are school sports beneficial to your child? I believe school sports help students because they decrease obesity, help then build a strong and healthy body, and they increase happiness.
School sports decrease obesity because of all the exercise. Without the sports, most kids would continue their obnoxious eating habits without burning the calories off. According to eatright.org, a teenage boy should eat 2,220 to 3,200 calories a day and teenage girls 1,800 to 2,400 calories a day. Most teens do not have a caloric balance (balance of calories being eaten and calories being burned). Meaning, most of them eat more than they burn. Exercise and team sports help to increase the amount of students with a caloric balance. With this balance now in place, students would be healthy and begin to keep this progress even after school ends.

According to fitness.mercola.com, when you exercise, your brain, lungs, heart, and muscles are greatly benefited. But how? When you exercise, your muscles use glucose and APT for their contractions and movements. In order to create APT, your body needs a little extra oxygen. Your breathing will then begin to increase as will your blood flow. Now that your muscles need more oxygen, your lungs will have to work harder until they reach their VO2 max. The VO2 max is the maximum capacity of oxygen usage. According to fitness.com, as you work out more, your VO2 max will rise along with your fitness level. As your VO2 max rises it will make it easier to exercise for longer periods as your lungs would be able to function at that speed longer. All of this increased blood flow helps oxygenate the brain. When exercising, your brain will immediately function better causing you to have a boost in happy chemicals, reduced stress, and improved self-confidence. Having your brain function better will help you mentally and physically stay healthy and

Students will respond with answers suggesting increases in heart rate, respiration, sweating and muscle fatigue, as well as muscle soreness as normal. However, in reality, in an effort to sustain maximum energy output over extended periods of time, endurance athletes train so that organ systems make the necessary physiological adaptations and are not subject to radical changes in function. Metabolic changes can occur with extensive endurance training in the muscles, hearts and lungs of the athlete, increasing efficiency of system utilization (Thompson, 2000).…

Honestly, I like to think of baseball as an indefinite chess match, and you can sit there and try to take pieces early in the game or you can let your master plan kind of evolve and if you go out and get these big name pitcher and hitters who are 28-29 in the prime of their career and give them these 7-8 year contracts worth 200 million dollars. Well in that fifth, sixth, seventh year. They start breaking down and you’re paying them 20-30 million dollars a year and you can’t put enough good pieces around a single player to make up for…

Sports keep teens well behaved at school and in class. Sports reduce the number of fights, and bad classroom behavior. In order to play any sport in high school, the students must make good grades. If they fail to make the grades, then they are either dismissed from the team, or they must take a study hall before each practice for at least 30 minutes, sometimes even for the whole day until his or her grade comes up to a passing grade. In most high schools, there are problems with attendance from the students. If a player does not come to school, then they may not go to practice or attend the game that…

90 minutes to make or break your season. The grass under your cleats when arriving at the pitch. Wind blowing through jerseys while sprinting to get the ball. The silky feel of your school colors on your sweaty skin. The thrill achieved by that one perfect kick straight into the feet of the waiting teammate right next to the goalie's box. The skill and precision that goes into one sport that the world goes crazy for. Imagine dribbling across the length of the pitch and passing the ball, waiting for that pass back to complete the two-touch the team has been practicing endlessly. The ball is coming straight at you at break-neck speed. It’s too high to stop with your feet, what do you do? You breathe, take a look at your coach who is chewing ferociously…

One reason high school sports aren’t beneficial is because they create a lot of pressure. According to the video “Do Athletes Face Unnecessary Parent Pressure?” by KCRA, sports are sometimes the only way students can get into a good college and be able afford it. This puts a lot of pressure on the athletes to perform at their best 100% of the time. Experts say that your child's entire team will suffer if the parents are pressuring their kids (KCRA.com, “Do Athletes Face Unnecessary Parent Pressure?” ). This fact is important because it proves, when parents put pressure on their children it does not benefit them, in fact it is actually setting them up for life in an unhealthy way. This shows that the pressure from sports is not good and not worth it.…
