How would a student feel if they knew that the USDA allowed the school to provide meals which could make them unhealthy, or even sick? Lunch, as most know, is a very important part of a student’s school day. Coming to the conclusion that those who enjoy it might not be too concerned about their health. And it is obvious to say that foods like that are not at all healthy. Bringing lunch from home however, one can always put together a quality meal. Adding healthy options like cut fruits and vegetables that the school does not offer. It is logical to say that food made in cafeterias is strictly made for the amount of convenience instead of quality.…

Recently there has been revisions to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and schools were required to overhaul their entire menus to provide the students with healthy and nutritious foods including fruits and vegetables. The new school lunch rules are part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 which has been implemented this fall. (Post Standard) The Hunger Act allows the USDA the opportunity to make reforms to the school lunch and breakfast programs. With these revisions come strict guidelines from the federal government that each school district must follow in order to receive funding and reimbursement (National School Lunch Program, 2012, August p. 1). In this essay i will be comparing the positive and negative effects of these recent revisions to the NSLP. I will then discuss whether or not these changes are beneficial to the children receiving the meal and whether NSLP is leaving children hungry or helping children make healthy food choices.…

Having better school lunches would improve the eating habits of children. I believe that if schools were informed about the consequences of bad eating habits to the children they would do something to improve the food being served. Children nowadays tend to just eat junk food and call it a “meal.” The school lunches are not exactly a great healthy meal, food that is served is full of sodium and high on saturated fats and is usually low in fiber and lacks all the nutrients that can be found in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. There are other schools that have healthy food options for everyone; without all the unhealthy fats and all of the unnecessary grease on the food.…

Next, there needs to be better lunches at the cafeteria at HMS. First of all, the lunches need to be bigger so the students can eat more. Before it was stated that students need food to focus in class. The current lunch sizes are for elementary schoolers. Middle schoolers are growing and need more food. Some people believe that the lunch sizes are fine but they are wrong because the kids will still be hungry. Ask the students, make a survey they will be hungry after lunch. They don’t have enough food and the little food we get is not even filling. For example, they have five small chicken wings that cost four dollars. The amount of chicken wings that we get is worth $1. Next, more kids will eat and it will be good for health. The school can…

In order to aid students productivity, students should be allowed to eat lunch off-campus. If students are allowed to eat lunch off campus, they will be able to concentrate better during PLT and project time because students are not eating due to the fact that students choices of food are limited. Additionally, this would aid the local economy due to the fact that students are purchasing goods from the businesses in Daly City. If we do not develop good eating habits at this impressionable time in our lives, then we will lack these necessary skills for the future. One reason our school, Summit Shasta, needs to have off-campus school lunch is because students will focus better in class because eating food helps boost students’ metabolism. In 2017 the article Healthy Kids Eat Better, The Alliance for a Healthier Generation found that students should have access to healthy foods throughout the day for they can get proper nutrition in order to…

School lunches lack healthy nutrients that growing children and teens need. Because, schools lack the proper funding needed to support students with healthy lunches, students have a horrible diet. A lot of people, including myself, believe that if healthy school lunches were provided students at home would make better choices when it came to what snacks they ate between meals. If schools got better funding for healthier lunches it could theoretically save the government more money because the students in turn would have less health problems.…
