Scanners Persuasive Speech
Hello,

Here at Student Mail Services at Saint Louis University, we have been a having a reoccurring issue involving two of our handheld scanners.

In regards to scanner #1, the scanner will not turn on at all. We have tried to reset the scanner, and keeping it placed on the dock. It has still showed not signs of power at all.

Also periodically there have been problems with our scanner #3 as well. The scanner freezes up or will automatically sign out of Neopost while being used.

The scanner #2 has not any problems yet but just to avoid anything in the future we would like this one looked at as well.

If possible can we have all of the scanners replaced? What do we need to do in order to resolve these issues with the scanners?

This report investigates the current state of scanner technology and examines the predicted future advancements of scanners. A brief history of the scanner and its operation is initially outlined. The discussion then focuses on the advantages and limitations of the five main types of scanners in common use today: drum, flatbed, sheet-fed, slide, and hand held scanners. The performance of these scanners is examined in relation to four main criteria: resolution, bit-depth, dynamic range and software. It is concluded that further technological advances in these four areas as well as the deployment of new sensor technology will continue to improve the quality of scanned images. It is also suggested that specialised scanners will increasingly be incorporated into other types of technology such as digital cameras.…

Laser scanners are big investments, and WestLAND took its time looking for the right solution. The firm had a definite need; the work they do for railroads often calls for clearance surveys around tunnels and bridges, and point clouds and cloud-based models are ideal for this. But there wasn’t a huge demand; buying a dedicated scanner seemed like too much investment. Also, WestLAND’s topographic and as-built survey workflow is already quite efficient; ideally, scanning would fit into and extend this workflow, not be a separate solution with parallel-but-separate field and office workflows.…
