This experience has been one of the most outlandish and eerie that one could of imagined. Most things in life can be explained rationally and with little thought to the reason or logic behind them, however what I have experienced is quite the conflicting to what I would usually be inclined to think. There must be some type of phenomenon that makes one feel as though one has left the natural world. These occurrences leave no room for logic, rationalization or justification.…

    I. Picture this. You are trying to get to the mainland from an island about 1.5 miles out in the sea. You must survive the freezing cold waters that could kill you if you are exposed to them for too long. Not to mention how strong the current is that can sweep you out into the middle of the ocean, and on top of it all, there are man-eating sharks in the water. What is a place like this? Alcatraz.…

The prison went into lock down, and an intensive search began.…

After centuries of the United States Government ignoring and mistreating the Indigenous people of this land, the Alcatraz occupation in 1969 led by righteous college students, became the longest Indian occupation of federal ground in the history of the United States and a landmark for Indian self-determination. The documentary, Alcatraz is Not an Island, describes the occupation that made Alcatraz a symbol for Indigenous people as motivation to stand up against the cruelty that they have experienced since the arrival of the Europeans. Hence the name of the film, Alcatraz can be seen as an inspiration for Indigenous people rather than an island.…

Today is one of those rare days in which it is raining and I’m sitting on the windowsill waiting for a sign. Something that says ‘move on’. There is still a part of me that hopes every day that you're alive and I haven't found you yet. I will have searched the far corners of the earth before I let myself believe you dead. I dream of you every night, then wake with the bitter taste of regret fresh in my mouth. You abandoned me. You have marooned me on this earth, and it is dark without your light by my side. All that fills my mind is when you were still beside me. I distinctly recall one summer when we were not quite children anymore and still too young to be adults. It was raining so hard that the streets were flooded for the first time in eighty years, and you had insisted on escaping to the desert.…

At around 12:30 pm, on Sunday, February 12th 2017, I drove to the Santa Monica Pier from my house in Sherman oaks. I am wearing a black top, dark blue jeans, and a warm grey coat, and am slightly to hot. When I arrive at the parking station, I notice that the beach is already very crowded and there is hardly any parking available, this makes me nervous, because I am not good at parking on a good day, after a good 15 minutes of circling the parking lot, I spotted two people who may have been going towards their car, one person had short blond hair and was wearing orange and blue striped swimming trunks, without any shoes or a shirt, and was carrying a large icebox, while the other was wearing a long floral dress and black flip flops. I rolled down…
