Australian Salt Water Crocodiles

I think that crocodiles are very cool reptiles. All crocodile is a species of the family crocodilian. The Australian crocodile’s habitat is all over north Australia. In Australia they are the most feared animals. Crocodiles can go over thousands of miles of sea.

Description
The Australian crocodile can be 1000 Kg. Male crocs can be 6 to 7 meters long, but the females could only be 2.5 to 3m long. An average male croc is 5m. The croc has clear eyelids that protect and let him see under water. Also their ears have flaps that close, when water is trying to get through. This croc has 64-68 teeth AND has a very powerful jaw. Crocodile scales are oval. Young crocodiles have a yellow body, black stripes and spots. When they get older they become more pale and there stripes will disappear.

Habitat
Australian crocodiles are found in rivers and coasts. These crocodiles are very territorial and kick out the weaker ones of the pack. The ones that are weaker and got kicked out might have to travel 1000 km just to find a nice habitat. Other crocodiles

Food
Australian saltwater crocodiles will eat anything that they are stronger than, even humans. The young ones will eat insects, small fish, small reptiles and more. Crocodiles
Australian salt water crocodile’s main predator is the human. At one time they were almost at extinction. Crocodiles lay 40-60 eggs but only 1% of them will survive in the wild and grow to an adult.

The Difference between a Crocodile and an Alligator
The differences between them are the alligators have a smaller, skinnier and blunter heads than crocodiles. Another difference is that alligator’s rather fresh water. Also crocodiles seem to be bigger and a lot more aggressive. I wouldn’t think of the alligator as gentle, but compared to the crocodiles, it is. Crocodiles are a lot more active to their prey.
