Sacrifice In Divergent And The Hunger Games

Sacrifice is a choice you do to help your family; bravery is what is inside of you. To understand both main characters you first have to understand that strength is in everyone, but it’s up to you to use it to your advantage. In the books, The Hunger Game and Divergent, they had to accomplish strength otherwise there weaknesses are going to overcome them. Both Katniss and Tris had to deal with different types of societies. In The Hunger Games their society was split into 12 Districts that were all under the power of one evil dictator known by the name of President Snow. In Divergent there wasn’t really a ruler, but when they turned a certain age they had to pick the faction they best fit into and had to stay there for the rest of their lives or become factionless. The Hunger Games took place in North America, the Capitol of Panem maintains its hold on its 12 districts by forcing them each to select a boy and a girl, called tributes, to compete it a televised event called The Hunger Games. Every citizen is forced to watch the youth fight to the death until only one remains. District 12 Tribute Katniss Everdeen has little to rely on, other than her hunting skills and sharp instincts to help her survive. Divergent took place it Chicago and it was split into the five factions: Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless, and Erudite. The remaining of the population is the factionless. When children reach the age of 16 they undergo psychological tests which helps them choose the best faction for them as their permanent group. Beatrice Prior (Tris) was born Abnegation. The lady that helped with her test told her she was divergent, but being divergent is illegal, so she kept it a secret. Tris chose Dauntless where she met Tobias (Four) and they both fought to keep their secret of being divergent a secret and fought side by side but also fell it
