The russians kept getting closer to us, we could hear them fighting and every time they would get close they would move us. One time they gave us a choice to stay in the hospital and wait or we had the choice to keep moving with the other people. Me and dad went with the others, just to stay together. On September 11, 2013, Vladimir Putin presented his viewpoint concerning the United States involvement with the country of Syria in the form of an article, respectfully titled, "A Plea for Caution From Russia." The opinion piece, which was submitted to The New York Times, makes an attempt to address the actions of the United States. Putin meticulously creates his argument by utilizing three fundamental methods of persuasion; these three methods incorporate ethos, pathos, and logos. Putin 's proficiency to include these methods when directing the citizens of American is impeccable. He…

My names David, and just like my entire society of Jews, I have been neglected from the German nation. I have found no reasoning, no explanation, for why we been blamed for our countries extreme downfall. For the last two years our family has been in hiding and three months ago we were located and persecuted by the Nazi's. The neighbors gather information and noticed we were Jewish, they quickly called the police. We've received letters from our relatives stating their safe in a labor camp but I know they are probably not even alive anymore. I've kept updated with the militaries action and they invaded Poland '39 as well. I feel an entire war begging and the help for our race is no where near. This Genocide is no where near over.…

We were there for about a month before momma was moved…..I was all alone after that. I missed momma and papa so much. Two weeks after momma was taken away I went in with a bunch people to take a shower, the first one that I had ever had since being there. I never came out; there was some kind of gas that came out of the shower heads. I wish the soldiers never came to our house that morning; I never got to tell my momma and papa goodbye. They survived and found each other after the holocaust was over. I was killed at 9 years old just because I was Jewish… it was so…

I was sitting with my family at the breakfast table drinking milk and eating a piece of burnt toast; that was when I heard the feint sound of sirens coming from the east end of the block. My dads face grew pale and my mother quickly stood up and grabbed my brother and mines hand. She guided us towards the back of the house through a small opening in the floor. Once we reached the hole, she took my brothers hand and placed it in mine, telling him to watch over me. We were put into the hole and she kissed our heads, then covered the little light we had with a rug. I started to panic, unaware of the destruction and persecution that lay before me on a silver platter. We spent a week in that ditch, although it had felt like a lifetime. All the while, I thought of my parents: where had they gone; would they soon return? One day while we were there, with cramps building up in my legs, I heard footsteps coming from above my head. My brother hoping it was our parents returning to save us from the forever darkness that we faced slid the rug over and peered up with squinting eyes. The rough man standing above us, however, was not our father, but a man I would soon come to know as, Nazi soldier. The reasons of our taking were not because of crime, but because of my ethnicity, the way I looked, the way I spoke, and even my religion.…

    • 5 Pages

The Tsarist autocracy has succeeded for more than three hundred years, but the Russian Revolution that occurred on November 1917 ended the long term autocracy. During this time period, Tsar Nicholas II was the leader of Russia and indeed the last one. He caused Russia’s downfall and made many Russians frustrated about the government. The Tsar did not acknowledge the nation's problems and failed to improve the lives of the citizens. As the Russians struggled with limited rights and lack of help from Nicholas II, they had to make a move. Although peasant unrest led to the Russians protesting and rebelling against the country, the Russian Revolution occurred because of Tsar Nicholas II’s weak leadership, in which he failed to accomplished the Russian’s goals, horribly managed the military, and thought that the system should not change.…

I am not sure if you recall who I am. My name is Maria your former servant. I am writing you this letter regarding the offer I made you about having you and your family being able to stay and live with me while the holocaust is going on. I have a safe secret place where you and your family can take refuge at. Don’t worry about needing to supply food and water for your family, I am willing to provide it. The reason that I am offering you this is because you and your family were wonderfully kind to me while I served you. Also if I don’t offer a helping hand I fear that you and your family will go through horrific situations and be separated just as other Jewish families were.…

Good morning now, former students of High School. I’m Anne Frank and let me just say CONGRADULATIONS! Thank you for having me come speak to you today. You are all so very lucky to be able to have finished grade school unlike my sister, Margot and me. High school might not have been your favorite thing but it was a wonderful experience for you all. I had to stop going to school at the young age of 11, it was my fifth grade year. I didn’t have many of the opportunities you had, but luckily I did get the chance to fall in love with… Peter van Pels. Many of you when you finish college will get married, find jobs, and start a family. All of you sitting in front of me have the chance to do something absolutely spectacular with you lives so, JUST DO IT! Even though school was taken from me I had a passion for writing. While living in the annex with 7 other people it got hard. I felt like I was all alone but one of the things that got me through it was, doing something I enjoyed. For some of you college might not be you first choice, Try taking classes you enjoy the topic of to get through it much easier just like I did with my journal. Before I got into the annex I was harassed because of my religion but I didn’t change who I was because of the words and actions that people said or did to me. When many of you are searching for jobs you ideas will be put down, but remember to NEVER compromise for something you believe in. When I was sent to live in concentration camps I realized that aren’t the things that bring you happiness in life. I had to learn to live without basic necessities such as food and water. Some of you later on in your life will worried about money. Let me assure you, you my friends can live with out nice clothing, the best shoes, and technology. The main thing you need to know is that material things aren’t what bring you happiness it’s your family and friends. In my life I have been stuck in an annex with 7 other people, listen to terrible things about…

People always say family is everything and they are the people that get you through the rough times. My family always helps me through the rough times in my life, I cannot imagine how someone who is barley receiving any nutrients in their body can survive the emotional challenges of being in a concentration camp. I decided to go with the topic of families in the Holocaust because the Holocaust was one of the first genocides I thought of. When we were told to be more specific I thought what better than the family life during and after the Holocaust. I had heard stories of couples that were never reunited and children who never saw their parents again and I wanted to learn more about what really happened and any information I could. I read many personal stories while doing research, that really helped give me more of an insight of how hard it was to build your life back and find your…

I just wanted to say you were right about everything. Ever since you left things have gotten worse. We all just thought that you were crazy or just wanted attention. We were all foolish to not listen to you. Now, I am on a train to God knows where writing this letter to you. What you said was true. Moths after you left the Nazis ordered that all Jews wear the Star of David. It was extremely embarrassing. They had singled us out just for being Jewish. I didn’t let it get to me as I continued my studies. My father didn’t think it was such a big deal so why should I? Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, they did. The Nazis were kicking us out our homes and into a neighborhood filled with terrible housing called the ghetto. We had…

From the middle of the sixteenth century to the end of the eighteenth century three rulers stand out, remaining significantly more influential than other rulers of the period of Russian history. During the two hundred and fifty year period Russia witnessed three enlightened rulers, Ivan IV, Peter I, and Catherine II. Yet their enlightened dispositions were merely facades to hide ulterior motives of gaining more absolute power. They primarily sought to increase their power on the Russian throne.…
