Running Head: My Learning Style Assessment

There are several types of learning style which include auditory, visual, and tactile. My learning style is an auditory learner which means I learn better by listening and hearing. I tend to store my information by how it sounds not looks; therefore written instruction is hard for me I rather hear my directions. People tend to think I am not paying attention but I really am hearing them and understanding better than they think. Sometimes you will find me reading out

My personal learning style is doing. I learn best from the hands on approach of getting in to a topic or job and attempting to complete it on my own. This allows me to see my mistakes and not have them be prevented before they happen, which allows me to note the problem and fix it. I find it much harder to learn using concrete experience and reflective observation. The fact that both these styles are much harder for me to learn from effects my overall learning style because of how I learn, just watching someone else complete a task is not enough for me to learn by.…

A learning style is the way in which a person processes new information. In the learning system there are three main types of learning which are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. People may learn best by being taught with the three learning methods, but others may not. Visual learners are people who learn by seeing. These people learn more where there are images, graphs, diagrams, and colors involved. Visual learners are learners that first have to see what they are expected to know. Auditory learners learn best by hearing. Lastly, there is the kinesthetic learners, also known as tactile learners, those learners learn best by the physical activity. In a class the students’ way of learning might not be the way the professor…

We are faced with many different learning experiences. Some of these experiences have made a better impact than others. We can attribute this to our learning style. A person’s learning style is the method through which they gain information about their environment. Research is going on all over the world to help explain learning styles. To me, it is our responsibility to learn about these different learning styles so we can appeal to every type of learner in our world. Howard Gardner has elaborated on the concept of learning style through what he calls “multiple intelligence’s” (Gardner 3). Understanding this intelligence’s will help us to design our learning environment and curriculum in a way that will appeal to all people. We may even be able to curb negative behavior by reaching people in a different way. Learning styles can also help us to determine possible career paths so we can help to steer children in the right direction. Discovering our own learning styles can potentially maximize our own information processing and teaching techniques.…

Learning style? Why would one need to know a learning style? There is a way for you to find out what type of learning style you have. The VARK learning style assessment tool, developed by Neil Fleming, is an assessment that can be taken to discover ones learning style. There are several learning styles; kinesthetic style; those who learn from hands on experience, auditory learners; a learning style of memorization by retaining what is heard (Blasen, n.d., para.1), visual learners; individuals who retain best through written language such as reading and writing ("VARK Questionnaire," 2011, para. 1), and last multimodal study strategy; a learning strategy of…

    | My preferred general learning style is auditory, which means I do best by hearing. However, I am considered a multi-sensory learner. There are times where I learn best by doing, and then there are other circumstances where I learn best by observation. I am flexible and my preferred learning style really boils down to, it depends on the environment, task, and information being presented.…

There are many ways that people learn and the way they learn depends on that particular person and what they prefer. The myth of learning styles article states there is no credible evidence of learning styles. In my opinion how a person retains the material he or she is learning does consist of a learning style. I prefer to learn by doing things hands on. I have always been that way. In high school I used to study right before going to bed to remember the material for my test the next morning. Now I choose to write out the things I need to remember and take notes that I can understand. According to the lesson readings I am put into the category of a combination of a visual and kinesthetic learner. I believe the readings are right because I have always had theese set ways of learning.…

Learning styles can be defined as a preferred mode(s) an individual uses to gain knowledge. Dr. David A. Sousa an international consultant in educational neuroscience, identified three learning styles predominate in most classrooms. The first identified learning style is auditory. Pupils learn best by hearing the information. These students excel in the traditional lecture hall setting; tape reorders and discussion are also popular educational aides with this group. The second learning style is visual. Visual learners absorb information best by the use of symbols, bright colors, charts, graphs, and diagrams. Like Dr. Temple Grandin, an…

Just as there are differences in the personality of people, there are also differences in the ways that we learn and use information in writing. Some people tend to be reflective while others show non-intellectual manner in the way they process information. As we have different preferences in learning, we tend to change and adjust our learning strategies based on our own development and in which we find ourselves. By understanding ourselves, we become more aware of these differences and more capable of adjusting to new situations throughout our lives as either learners or writers.…

From the first website about investigating learning styles I found that I learn best with visuals and interactive experience. After I took the DVC Learning Styles Inventory test, my results concluded that I am a visual/nonverbal, auditory, and kinesthetic learner. My visual/nonverbal learning results suggest that I write down a summary after a lecture. I will retain information much better by writing down notes rather than memorizing the lecture. As an auditory learner, I should read out loud flash cards or information that I need to memorize. I currently use this learning strategy to prepare myself for class. For example, for my chemistry class I have note cards that I read out loud to help me remember key terms. The results as a kinesthetic learner suggest I use the computer to reinforce learning through the sense of touch. I should type out important information from my notes on to a Word document. By changing my study habits to fit my learning style, I will become a better student throughout college.…

    Personal Learning Style

A big component of my learning style is hands-on experience; learning while doing. This usually involved someone with more experience instructing me as I performed the task. Through the hands-on approach, I picked-up the knowledge and gained proficiency as I went along. My learning style also involved standard classroom instruction, which usually meant listening to lectures and taking notes. My note taking was not the best so in order to make up for what I lacked in note taking, I would read the textbooks repeatedly until I understood what I was reading. I learned that in order for me to get a complete understanding from my readings and notes, there had to be a lot great deal of repetition through study. I started to get creative using repetition as a way of learning, and found myself take notes and typing them into a word document; with the hope that the material would sink in. Sometimes retyping my notes worked and sometimes it was just a waste of time I could have used doing other things.…
