Running Away Chapter Summary
Time is Ticking Haohan Zhang (9-1)
Event #1- Deciding to Run Away
Connor knows he is being unwind. On a ledge over the freeway pass, he decides to ask his friend, Ariana what to do. She proposes the idea of running away with him and become AWOLs. As shown on page 4, when Ariana suggests to Connor, “‘We should run away,’ Ariana says”. Unfortunately, she declines and backs out on the decision saying she can’t run away when Connor goes to her house. Connor knows he can’t stay or else he will become unwound, so he decides to run away without Ariana.
Event #2- Running Away
While on the run, Connor tries to hitch a ride from a trucker. Fortunately for him, the truck driver agrees even though it is against the law to help an Unwind. Unluckily, the next morning, Juvey-cops surround the outside of the truck, finding out Connor’s spot by the location chip in his phone. However, Connor races outside to the interstate where he creates massive disruption. He is pursued by cops when bolting and meets Risa who was going to be unwound from the StaHo on a bus and a tithe, Lev in a car. Lev is held captive by Connor and Risa. To stop one of the cops from following them, Connor shoots a traq bullet at a Juvey Cop. The three start travelling into the forest.
Event #3- The School

To avoid getting caught, they must go on a school bus and pretend to be kids going to school. Right before they get on, Connor sees a stroked baby and has the urge to help the kid. Thus, Connor and Risa brings along the baby on to the bus. The three, goes the school where they hide in the washrooms until it is safe to come out. Yet, Lev manages to escape while still under the influence that he should be unwound and that the AWOL Unwinds are ruthless people. He makes a phone call to Pastor Dan who says he is free now, he is confused about this, and so he pulls down the fire
