Born Joseph Rudyard Kipling in Bombay, India, on December 30, 1865, at a time in which his parents moved to India as a part of the British Empire. , Rudyard (along with his sister Alice) was fascinated with India with its markets and bustling streets filled with Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and even Jews.
