Romeo Blue Title Analysis

Every novel has a title and every title has a meaning behind it. Romeo Blue is about a 12 year-old girl who moved to America to be safe from the war in Europe. The twist is that Felicity’s parents are spies, and they have to go back to Europe and leave her in America. She soon discovers that the man she has been calling Uncle Gideon, is not actually her uncle, he is her father. She grows to love him and after a full year of not getting anything from her parents, Gideon decides to go over seas and find them. Romeo Blue got its title for many reasons but the main reason is because Felicity, also known as Flissy, finds a Romeo Blue Butterfly. The significance of the butterfly is that it is a European butterfly, her mother’s spy name is butterfly, and Flissy is like a butterfly.
Flissy found one of these butterflies while she is in America, it was out of place. She is from London, England. Flissy is to be in Europe, not America, and she stands out from everyone else because she is different. The butterfly is just like Flissy; it stands out because of its bright blue color. Flissy is missing home and her friends from Europe, this makes her stand out more. Flissy is different and felt displaced. “Hi L.C., she said. It sounded nice enough but I knew it stood for Little Creep” (Stone 124). Brie, a girl taking Derek to a fall dance, makes Flissy feel out of place in America. Flissy has been falling in love with Derek and he was going to a dance with a girl that was calling her names and making fun of her because she stood out from everyone
