Example 1: Dramatic - The audience knows Juliet gave herself a sleeping potion and was thought to be dead. Romeo doesn’t, and digs up Juliet in her “grave”, assuming she is dead. In his despair and haste to reunite with his true love, Romeo drinks the poison, killing himself.
Example 2: Situational - Since the letter from Friar Laurence explaining Juliet’s plan never reaches him, Romeo expects to be united with Juliet in death. Though he doesn’t live to know the truth, the opposite of what he expected happened, being that Juliet was never dead until he was.

    An example of a dream foreshadowing the eventual tragic ending of the play is found in Act 1 Scene 4, in which Romeo says that he “dreamt a dream tonight” to his friends Mercutio and Benvolio, while heading to Capulet’s feast. His dream is ominous, and he is fearful of whether his dream will come true, saying that he fears the “vile forfeit of untimely death”. This proves true at the end of the play, as he does eventually die before his time, confirming his premonition.     After Juliet agrees to marry Paris, she makes a plan with Friar Laurence to drink a sleeping potion that will make her seem dead; the reader sees why after reading Juliet’s line “O, bid me leap, rather than marry Paris.” on page 1074 of our Literature Textbook. Since Juliet agrees to do this, the people around her, be it family, friends, etc., actually believe that Juliet is dead. Her family holds a funeral for her and are in unbelievable pain over her “death”. Romeo also believes that Juliet is dead and kills himself not knowing Juliet is alive. Of course, soon after he has done this is when the potion wears off and awakes in her family's mausoleum to see a dead Romeo. This causes her to literally freak out and search Romeo for some more of the potion he used to kill himself to kill herself.
