Love as a cause of violence

Romeo and Juliet were “star crossed lovers”. This is for the majority of the time which not a good thing because “star crossed” means that you have no choice in the matter. The “stars” have decided it already. This makes it so you have never had a choice in your life and your life has been planned out from the beginning and can lead to disasters just like what happened in Romeo and Juliet. Violence and love have always been close together in movies, stories or books. They can make the character do amazing or tragic things depending on the situation. Love as a cause of violence shows it self in may stories and themes.

In the story of Romeo and Juliet, this happens in quite a few occasions. The several occasions include when Romeo and Juliet both threaten to kill them selves if the friar doesn’t do something about the Paris and Juliet marriage. There is also the example of when Tybalt is killed by Romeo. This happens because he loved Mercutio like a brother and when Tybalt killed him he went a little crazy which made him do rash actions.

Violence and love have show them selves in many different stories, movies, songs and books. This shows it self a in media a lot. Some of the many stories that revolve around this Disney movies or action movies. Love can make people do outstanding things or very tragic things. It all depends on the situation and the setting.

Take another situation like the one from Othello. He loved Desdemona and because he loved her so much he was paranoid of other people taking her away from him. So when he was told she was being unfaithful to him he believed the lie easily. He was paranoid and maybe self conscious about him self. He ended up killing the one he loved and ended up dying himself. This is a plot line for many other stories.

There are many examples that happen to people in real life. People defend themselves and loved ones from dangerous people or situations which a lot of the time end up in violence. They end up in violence because they protect people protect the ones they love from danger. For example a burglar breaks in to someone’s house in the middle of the night and wakes up the owner of the house and they come down stairs, the owner might have to hurt the burglar to protect his family and house. In this setting I think violence is totally ok and acceptable. I think that in certain settings and situations violence and some times very rarely even killing someone can be in the right for the right reasons.

Love as a cause of violence can be good or bad depending on the situation. It can be in terms of defense for a loved one or one self or sometimes in terms of anger and hate for someone. In the case of Romeo and Juliet’s case their love for each other drove them to cause violence on themselves and others.
