At the end of the First World War, the USA emerged as the richest country in the world. Adopting a policy of isolationism, the USA ushered in a new era known as the Roaring Twenties. This was an era of economic success as there was an increase in industry and business which created a higher income for suburban workers and an improved quality of life. However, not all people benefitted from the Roaring Twenties. Black Americans, immigrants and lower class women did not receive as many benefits during the period.
