Rihanna International pop-star Rihanna was born on February 20, 1988 in the country of Barbados. She has changed music industry by taking risks and never being afraid of change. She is the highest selling digital artist in U.S. history having sold 47,571,000 million singles worldwide. The most interesting parts of Rihanna are her early life, music, and public image.

Born as Robyn Rihanna Fenty, Rihanna was born in a church in Barbados. Her mother is Afro-Guayanese and her father is Irish and Barbadian. Rihanna is the oldest of three children; she has two younger brothers, Rorrey and Rajad Fenty. A friend of Rihanna’s introduced her to a producer named Evan Rodgers. With him she recorded a demo tape that was sent to record labels around the world, the first person to respond was Jay-Z the CEO of Def Jam Recordings. She met Jay-Z and sang for him and his partner L.A. Reid. When she finished singing Jay-Z said to her “There are only two ways out. Out the door when you sign this deal, or through the window…”. Meaning he wouldn’t let her out until she signed the record deal. In August of 2005 she released her debut single “Pon de Replay” which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Rihanna continued on her career being bold and successful with her music. In 2007 she released her album Good Girl Gone Bad. In 2008, her song “Umbrella” topped billboards, and won a Grammy for, “Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals”. In 2009 she released her album Rated R. Her single “Live Your Life” won the BET Viewers Choice Awards. Also in 2009 Glamour Magazine named her as “Women of the Year”. In 2010 she released her album Loud, from that album came the megahits “What’s My Name,” “Only Girl (In the World),” and “S&M”. In 2011 her song Only Girl (In The World), won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. In 2011 she won a Billboard Award for her song “Love the Way You Lie”.
