Rhetoric Assignment

In order to get my mom to trust me more, I will primarily use pathos. I will also use ethos to appeal to my mom. I will use pathos by telling my mom how much I love her and appreciate everything she has done for me. I will tell her how I appreciate how she was a single mother and did all she could. I will use pathos by telling her how special she is to me and how it must have been hard but she did give me almost anything I wanted. I will use ethos by telling her how credible I am. I will tell her that now I have a job and I am more responsible because of that. I am also credible because I am going to be 18 next year , so I am becoming a young adult.     Furthermore, her characteristics align with that of the ‘Mammy’ archetype, and she is portrayed as an elderly, loving motherly figure, providing to her family’s needs. However, she is also depicted as somewhat uneducated and bound by the traditions of her past, which reinforces the ‘Mammy’ archetype, of a women who despite being a caring motherly figure, does not know much outside of her household duties due to a lack of opportunity to further educate herself.
