No Impact Man Review

No Impact Man Review The thought of killing yourself slowly over a period of time doesn’t necessarily put a smile on everyone’s face, but that is what we are doing throughout our lives. By polluting the world with our trash, toxic fumes, and nasty habits we are slowly killing ourselves and our planet. This is why Colin Beaven wrote the book No Impact Man.
Throughout this book Colin try’s to portray a very important message to all of us, which is trying to not make an environmentally bad impact on our world so that we create a better life for the future. Even though this is a very good message and everyone should pay attention, he tends to lose himself in little things that don’t exactly need three chapters to explain.
Throughout this book there are very important quotes such as “We can all change the people around us by changing ourselves.” I love this quote because it’s so true. If you want to make a change you’re going to have to start with changing yourself. You can’t be a hypocrite when doing something such as calling the world out and making everyone feel guilty, which Colin does.
Even though this book portrays a good message to a lot of people, I would of rather just watched the documentary. I would highly regard you not to read this book because there are just so many bland and non-important parts. This book is flat out annoying and a very boring read. Take my advice with this good topic, and just watch the documentary.

Duty and responsibility to the living and non living aspects of Earth seems reasonably obvious to the common person. Humanity has been gifted with awe-inspiring and picturesque scenery and worthy resources that have allowed us to evolve past the belittled ape or animal. Yet, even through our actions in past and present, humanity has shown an aptitude for non-committal towards their obligation to the very thing that provides them with life. The over-industrialised world, monopolistic commercialism and disreputable capitalism have led to the metaphorical hell on earth represented in Scott’s panorama of…

By reading the front and back cover of the book, it could be concluded that No Impact Man would be a fairly boring and drug out book. To most, including myself, a novel about a random, guilty liberal who decided he should stop making an impact on the environment while dragging his family down into this endeavor sounds very unappealing. Despite this, I did have high hopes that it would turn out to be a good novel; the environment is indeed in danger and is in need of help, the project sounded unique and original, and the idea of such a project raises questions of just how it would be done properly. I had high hopes for the book, but expected very little of it.…

Mankind is poisoning the planet. Today, enough fossil fuels have been burned and enough forests have been chopped down to increase the highest concentration of carbon dioxide than any point in the past eight hundred millenniums. (528) In the article “The Acid Sea,” Elizabeth Kolbert wrote about how the polluted sea around Castello Aragonese provides us with a glimpse of our future oceans and how it interferes with the chemistry of the ocean. In the article “Our Oceans are Turning into Plastic … are You?,” Susan Casey discusses the negative effects plastic has on the environment. “The Acid Sea” and “Our Oceans are Turning into Plastic … are You?” did an excellent job with providing strong arguments and appeals to inform and persuade the reader that the world is deteriorating and reform is compulsory for the health of the planet.…
