Reverse Racism

The idea of reverse racism started in 1966.This term came up when Hosea Williams of Southern Christian Leadership Conference accused members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee of reverse racism. The reason this term came to be was because the SNCC wanted some Whites removed from local government of Alabama to make room for Blacks. Reverse Racism is an idea many people disagree on whether if it exists or not. Reverse Racism is defined as a perceived discrimination against a dominant group or political majority. Reverse Racism has been an argument that has been debated over the years, whether it exists or not. Reverse Racism by some people is considered to be a myth because of the idea of majority privilege. People who don’t believe in reverse racism believe that you can’t be a racist to a group of people who have privileges such as White Privilege. White Privilege is a set of advantages and/or immunities that white people benefit from on a daily basis beyond those common to all others. White privilege can exist without White people's conscious knowledge of its presence and it helps to maintain the racial hierarchy in this country. This is one of the few reasons a certain amount of people don’t believe in the existences of reverse
People debate that Affirmative action is racists towards Whites. However, that isn’t the case. Affirmative Action according is an action or policy favoring those who tend to suffer from discrimination, especially in relation to employment or education. Affirmative action gives those minorities that don’t have a chance, an opportunity that all humans deserve no matter race or gender. Affirmative Action is just a way to even out the playing field for those races that have been discriminated against and those who don’t have the privileges of many. These actions, holidays, movements, and Black culture aren’t racist acts to Whites, but instead ways to conserve and show people what minorities are worth.
Black History Month to many is considered racists and discriminates Whites. Many people who believe in reverse racism debate if there is a Black History Month there should be a White History Month. However others debate that there is no need for White History Month and it is not only for a month but every single day. White History is amended in our school curriculum.
