Research Process and Terminology Paper Within the criminal justice system one of the most important aspects of criminal justice research would be the terminology in which utilized. Student plans to pursue a career in the criminal justice field will need to know and understand and be able to articulate the terminology used within the criminal justice system. The understanding of the terminology deems important due to the fact that just like in any other profession there are consensus by which individuals in that profession conduct themselves. Like in all professions that an individual becomes familiar with the terminology is often exclusive to the profession and the understanding of the professional individuals involved. Individuals have the endless ability to obtain an articulate information that is obtained from research. An individual’s only obstacle to knowledge that they seek is to understand the terminology, language or circumstance in which information is being provided.
Terminology that needs to be learned in order to communicate effectively in the criminal justice system would be things such as: independent variable, dependent variable, operationalization, quantitative research, qualitative research, applied research, methodology verification, theory and replication just to name a few. It would be in a person’s best interest to not only have knowledge of the words but also find the in-depth definition of each term this will aid you and continuing your criminal justice career as it pertains to research. Before continue with attempting to deliver a complete understanding as to the importance of proper terminology in the criminal justice system as far as research let’s talk about what justice research means. In “the criminal justice system is all about people and how they interact. Social norms define behavior that is acceptable and expected by society; however, acceptance of a behavior or attitude by the individuals in the society is not always universal.
