Webster’s New Explorer Dictionary and Thesaurus defines an archetype as the original pattern or model of all things of the same type. Another way to understand the meaning of an archetype is that we are all born with a set of unconscious patterns of behavior that we can call archetypes. Life helps to teach us that we may not be aware of an archetype influencing our life and helping us relate to significant others. A round character is defined as a major character in a work of fiction that encounters conflict and is changed by it. The Way We See Me

It is so interesting to read the different perceptions that my friends and husband see of me. For example, my husband had very similar results to mine because he lives with me and sees me everyday. He has known me for ten years now and it is reassuring that he knows me so well. The only thing that we both seem to entirely disagree on is how imaginative I am. He believes that I am only slightly as I think that I am extremely. I believe this is because my husband is a big talker and he likes to verbally express his ideas where I would rather put them down on paper. As for my two friends opinions, they are slightly different. The two of my friends are actually a couple who lives together. The one I have know for ten years, where as the other I’ve only know for two. Both seem to agree that I am not at all selfish but also extremely considerate of others. This makes me feel good, as I have stated previously that I always try to treat people with the utmost respect that I would want from others.…

Lucas- He is a major character because he’s the one that created the conflict. The term major character means; a character that plays an important part of the story, someone who is part of the plot. He created the conflict by stealing his sister’s book and not giving it back. He is a round character because you see the scared and brother like side of him. Round is a character in fiction whose personality, background, motives, and other features are fully defined by the author. When you realize he is a scared. When most people look at me, they don’t always see me. They see a girl. They see a quiet girl who is a big reader. They see a girl who is a hard worker and does well in school. They see the sister of three younger brothers. It’s true. I’m all of these things. I am also much, much more. I am mature in certain matters, and childish in others. I change my personality according to my surroundings, and do not show the world the real me. There are even some things that my family does not know about the real me.…

Now I’m going to talk about my positive traits. I like helping people, if there is something I can do, I will do it. I believe that when you do something good for other people you get two things 1, the satisfaction of helping and two, God will reward you for the good action. According to my family I’m a joyful person I’m always smiling and making people laugh. Like I said in the beginning, I don’t like showing people my weaknesses and that includes when I’m sad or depress. I prefer keeping it all to myself and act like everything is okay. I put others first than me, I think that is something good because it doesn’t make me a selfish person. Another positive trait that I will always be thankful to my parents is showing me good manners and to…

I am very outgoing and sometimes consider myself to be very talkative, even when people tell me to be quiet I cannot help it. That is just the type of person I am. I like to be heard even if I am the only person listening to myself my brain is always running and developing new thoughts and ideas to discuss with other people. Whenever I am with my friends they are constantly telling me to be quiet because I never stop talking I just do not like it to be quiet. I feel that I am the life of the party I also do this at work with my co-workers I just like to talk I feel I have a mouth to express myself and be heard. Openness to experience I feel is another that describes me well because along with always thinking and talking I an very curious to know a little about everything. I feel that I can learn about different things forever, and that I can always learn how to do something I already know a different more efficient way. Curiosity never hurt anyone I believe the world is full of many mysteries and we must unlock and discover them to learn what they are. I also find myself building thing without the instructions not because I do not need them, but because I am curious to see if I can create what I am building without them. Even if I do not know something on a subject I will sometimes act as if I do because I want to see how gullible people are, and I also know many facts about everything so it is easy to believe me. Using agreeableness I would consider myself to be ruthless and soft-hearted why, because I tend to be easygoing and am kind to people I know, but if I do not know you I am not going to be nice to you. Do not get me wrong though even with people I know I can turn on if they give me a good cause to snap on them. People who hitch for rides I…

The usage of the first-person point of view immediately presents the narrator to be a round character, due to the intimate opportunities the style of writing provides for fiction writing. Although we do not know the narrator’s name, due to the narrative style the audience can relate to the stories and experiences the character has. We know how the character feels internally quite often, which is iconic of the round fictional character. For example, we are provided internal insights that only a round character would allow the audience the opportunity to discover. For example, the character reveals how he felt “personally abandoned somehow” when describing junior high school (Ríos 201). We also discover a lot about the character’s personality through the actions and habits mentioned in the story. The following passage exemplifies a traits only a round character could have: “..what we would do down there was shout every dirty word we could think of, in every combination we could come up with, and we would yell about girls, and all the things we wanted to do with them.” (Ríos 201) This reveals that the narrator and his friend Sergio are going through a hormonal, rebellious stage where new sensations and impulses drive what pretty much most junior high student males’ experience. Since he is a round…

The fact that my favorite jelly bean is yellow says something about my personality. Firstly, yellows are not usually outspoken. For instance, when my friends and I make plans to hang out I only say something if asked even if I do not like the plans. That is how I act in most if not all situations. Secondly, I have trouble making decisions in a lot of situations. In fact, I spent up to thirty minutes deciding if I wanted to go to a rodeo when my mother asked if I wanted to go. I tend to take as much tie as I can to make decisions I did with the rodeo issue. Thirdly, I attempt to understand why someone thinks the way they do. As an example, my friend mentioned his favorite character in a game was different than mine, so I asked my friend to describe…

Growing up, I was always viewed as a person that didn’t like any type of socialization. I was portrayed as a quiet, nerdy, reserved individual that had very limited conversations with those around me. Unfortunately, the people that said this about me were wrong. In reality, if I were to describe myself to someone that doesn’t know me, I would tell them that I’m a very outgoing, laid back, intelligent, trustworthy, responsible, friendly, funny, outspoken, and social individual.…

Even though most of our appearances are similar, our personalities are completely opposite. My sister is a very hyper person, but I’m a calm and laid-back person. I like to have everything planned out and organized. While my sister never plans anything and just goes with the flow. She is very selfish and rarely puts others before herself. She is a very social person and loves to talk; however, I have never been a talkative person and I like to keep to myself. I’m not a very picky person and don’t care if I don’t get my way; however, my sister always has to have her way. She is always…

To me, the most apparent “round character” in The Grapes of Wrath was Tom Joad. The “flat character” I would have to say was Al Joad. Tom Joad is almost an equally important character, and is also the first character seen. Right from the beginning of the story, he seems to be the "black sheep", due mostly to the fact that he has spent some time in jail for manslaughter. His characterization is done mostly indirectly, through his family's response to his being out of jail. He is also developed, to a lesser extent, directly, by his attitude of "one foot before the other" kind of living. He is definitely a round, dynamic character.…
