Research Paper On Pesky Arthropods
Pesky Arthropods Oh, I absolutely despise those eight-legged arthropods capable of making you yelp, jump and hold onto something for dear life. The way the arachnid stares at you with those black beady eyes really gives you the heebie-jeebies. As it crawls towards you, you are absolutely petrified trying to figure out a way to execute it the most lethal way possible. Although, you may be a thousand times bigger than the specimen, it’s still able to give you a shiver down your spine. You might have guessed the abomination I was speaking about: they are spiders. What purpose do these abominable creatures serve us? Why have they been brought upon our world? They should cease to exist; moreover, they provide us with no assets whatsoever. The only benefit that even comes across my mind is its ability to …show more content…
In spite of that, they can be the most gruesome thing to ever deal with. You walk down the stairs to your basement and catch a quick whiff of dead bugs and silky web. These troublesome webs are almost everywhere and impossible to detect. I mean they are practically invisible! The worst part of these webs is when you walk into it and gets all over your clothing. I remember I had a very important wedding to attend to; the dress code was to wear casual attire. As we were heading downstairs to the basement I walked into a large web that measured at least a metre in length. I started wailing my hands everywhere with my eyes closed; making sure the piece of silk had not caught onto my clothing. Well and behold; the piece of silk had latched onto my clothing with 4 dead flies on it. What a nuisance these webs are; capable of ruining our day and making us late to meetings. Spiders are insulting our people and homes with the weaves they have created; just like Arachne. What is there to like about these demonic critters? Their weaves get in the way of everything and can’t be

The mystery powder is living, however, it is no longer alive. While placing it under a dissecting microscope under a 450x magnification, it was easy to come to the conclusion that it was a bug, due to the distinguishable body type, including a pair of eyes. In biology, a list was constructed that had “characteristics of living things.” The list was composed of characteristics such as: movement, eating, breathing, reproduce, produce water, and have a life cycle, to name a few. Because the bug was dead, it was nearly impossible to compare it to any of the characteristics on the this. However, the anatomy could be compared. While the type of bug is unknown, the bug was black, along with some other few bugs of the same petri dish, which is most likely believed to be the same type.…

Contrary to their name, sowbugs (Porcellio laevis) are tiny crustaceans that live in moist environments around the world. These creatures, about 12.5 mm in length, are extremely unique in their physiology, habitat, diet, and behavior. Sowbugs are harmless to humans, but incredibly important to ecosystems. They are found easily in nature, and are quite hardy (Franklin, Julie A.) Though they use gill-like structures, called pseudo tracheae, to breathe, sowbugs cannot breathe underwater but are highly dependent on moisture for survival. Sowbugs can only live in habitats with high humidity and low exposure to light (Buddies, Science). Sowbugs prefer sheltered, humid areas as the sun’s bright light dries them out (Potter, Michael F).…

I see it! No way. It’s crawling briskly near me. That roach is coming closer and closer to my feet as if I had sugar all around it. I am alone and no one is in the house and I had to kill it. I had to try. I got a fly swatter and quietly tiptoed near the roach. As fast as the speed of lightning, I swatted the fly swatter on the roach, hearing a crunching sound. I have been courageous when I killed a roach because to kill a roach, I had to be still, I had to kill it with something, and I had to stay quiet; killing a roach is very arduous and challenging.…

    Armadillo Research Paper

Armadillos have one of the highest rates of expansion being 10 times the active rate of a mammal. I think this is because they came from Mexico and the Southern Americas to America and since they do not have much meat on them, they are able to not be hunted. Also Armadillos had this invasion because of the large rivers and hunters in southern America. The armadillos also moved because of the humans invading them in Texas when Humans would start fires in the prairie grass. This then caused the overpopulation of armadillos in Florida due to no more predators, fires and rail road travel where the armadillo would then sneak onto the train and sneak off in Florida. These armadillo were also brought into Floridian zoos as pets and they would escape that. Also a cool interesting fact is that armadillos can live 20 years or even longer (sucks for the ones on the side of the road). So if armadillos can live up to 20 years or even longer they give birth to 4 babies at a time and they have the ability to delay implantation of fertilized eggs for…

People are scared of lampreys because of their razor like teeth. Many people also get scared because they hear that lampreys are bloodsucking fish. Just imagine a fish with rows of razor sharp teeth just waiting to grasp onto your leg and cut open you leg and suck your fluids and blood. Most people don’t even think that lampreys are real just some type of cryptid creature like the loch ness monster. Lampreys are real not cryptid. Although lampreys are scary, they are actually good for the environment. According to Burlington Free Press and Huffington Post many people described what a lamprey looks like, just picture a 3ft long eel with a giant suction cup on the head that is filled lots of razor sharp teeth.…

My favorite monster would have to be the cave dwellers because they do the unthinkable things and it’s horrific, and terrifying, think for a minute who is the scariest monster you know and multiply that by one hundred. Imagine being lost in the desert with cave dwellers they’re cannibals so they hunt you down like wild game and then eat you. Have you ever seen the movie Hills have Eyes it’s exactly like that but cave dwellers can end up anywhere at any time and they’re always hungry. There are three reasons cave dwellers are some of the most murderous monsters in existence. Reason one they don’t care who you are, famous, rich, military, president they’re still going to kill you. Reason two they are cannibals they eat human flesh like zombies do. There are three reasons why they’re the scariest monsters this is reason three they show no mercy and they can end up anywhere in the world.…

Is my meaning clear?”(43). The decision to choose one word over another can be the difference between describing a harmless scene, to a more ominous image. One of the sentences Barnes writes, and decides to replace a specific word in order to transform a relatively silly saying to a more dangerous scene was, “People running around like “’spiders’”, darting in and out of the shadows beneath the full moon, intentions unfathomable”(57). The saying that we are used to hearing has the word cockroaches instead of the word “spiders”. Spiders with their eight-leg bodies, and fangs fill with venom ready to turn the insides of their pray into mush to consume them, paints a more ominous scene. By replacing an animal to a more frightful one to a regular sentence it elevates the mood to a cautious feeling. The sentence describes the behavior of the people who cannot sleep and allows the readers to assume a violent scene will be coming in the next one. The scene of Paul lying on the floor while a construction worker (which Paul names him as a Blemmye) is on top of him punching him all over follows…
