When you think of Columbine High School and Sandy Hook Elementary School do you think of an average school or do you think of the tragic, mass murders that took place by gunmen? School shootings have started to increase more and more over the last decade, this also rising in colleges across the country. The question has been posed “Should students be allowed to carry a gun on campus?”. As the Constitution states in the Second Amendment, we as Americans, should have the God given right to have a gun to protect themselves from danger. Today’s society is willing to put people’s rights aside to make up for some people’s discomfort of having guns on campus. This is understandable as school shootings happen for people owning guns, but allowing students to carry a gun on campus also allows them to protect themselves and others in a crisis instead of having to wait for campus security or other law officers to show up. Being able to have a gun on campus could help save more lives than banning them. As some states are starting to pass the law allowing students to carry a gun as long as it’s concealed, it is starting many controversies as to whether it is what is best for our states. With many questions coming up with this debate, passing the law would allow students to use their right, protect themselves and others in dangerous situations, and even possibly decrease the opportunities for…

Therefore, colleges and universities should only allow securities to have guns on campus for protection and everyone else should be forbidden.…

More guns on campus or not? There is a huge controversy about guns on college campuses. Recent studies show how blocking student’s ability to carry a firearm makes colleges and universities some of the safest places in the United States. Depending on an individual’s views, there are many arguments that can be made for both sides of the controversy. My personal views on guns and concealed carry are the total opposite. Having learned about firearms at a young age along with training and practicing for years. I have learned how to handle them and use them proficiently. Having guns on campus would help deter an active shooter. A college or university would no longer be known as a gun free zone. Increases in suicides are of a big concern but I believe…

Many places including schools are designated gun free zones. Despite this designation we are all aware of the many campus shooting that have taken place within the last few years. I believe that college students, teacher and administrators should have the right to carry their legal firearms onto college campuses. It is my understanding that gun free zones create easy targets. Students, teachers and administrators have a better chance at saving their own lives and the lives of others when armed. I also believe that any campus…

To begin with, in the University of Texas at Austin there was a mass shooting that occurred on August 1, 1966, when a person named Charles Whitmen, fired and killed sixteen people.
