A goldfish is a beautiful and compelling animal that people should learn more about.
A goldfish is born in an egg. Next it hatches and is very small; they are mostly just a head and a tail. When it is in that stage it is called a fry and they grow very quickly in the first week. They have to or other fish or animals would eat them. When a baby

Goldfish compete for space because they all need a place to lay their eggs. Goldfish compete for food because a lot of them are looking for the same foods. Even though they have many choices for what they can eat, there are a lot of goldfish and most will be looking for the same thing. Goldfish have no competition for water because they all live in water. For protection goldfish will flee when a hand or net comes near them. When they’re in captivity there tank will protect them from other animals.
Goldfish communicate through body language and pheromones (“answers.yahoo.com”). Goldfish adaptations are that they used to be silver on color but over the years slowly they started to be orange (Curious Kids Press Goldfish).

The use of Artemia in scientific experiments is common practice due to the species’ adaptability, “such as adaptability to wide ranges of salinity (5-250gL¯¹) and temperature (6-35 °C), short life cycle, high adaptability to adverse environmental conditions, high fecundity, bisexual/parthenogenetic reproduction strategy (with nauplii or cysts production), small body size and adaptability to varied nutrient resources” (3, p.g. 453). The Artemia used in the investigation were in the nauplius stage of their life…

The purpose of this experiment is to design and conduct a basic scientific experiment, identify and control variables. Some other objectives that we learned is to write a formal hypothesis, identify the basic and integrated process skills of science that were used in this experiment. Also, we will learned the effects of temperature on goldfish respiration. This experiment will be conducted with four students , one goldfish, thermometer, a stop watch, and a beaker. This report discusses an experiment to study the rate of aerobic cellular respiration in aquatic organisms which are Elodea (aquatic plant), Snail, and Goldfish, by measuring carbon dioxide production. Because ectothermic organisms (Elodea, snail, and goldfish) were placed in completely covered beaker, each organism would produce different amount of carbon dioxide. The objective of the experiment is to measure carbon dioxide production in three aquatic organisms, and to determine and compare the rate of cellular respiration in each organism. Aerobic respiration is the process which body obtains energy by using glucose + oxygen; this reaction takes place in mitochondrion in a cell; And the result of the reaction are carbon dioxide, water, and energy in the form of ATP ( adenosine triphosphate) (Hoefnagels, 2012). According to Biology 6th Edition, plants use light to convert atmospheric carbon (CO2) into carbohydrate (Johnson, 204). So I predicted snail would respire at the fastest rate and produce more CO2 because its weight was heavier than other two…

A fish has long been seen as the perfect “starter pet”. Parents who are skeptical of their children’s ability to care for a larger animal will often present their offspring with a goldfish before introducing a dog or a cat to the household. While it is true that goldfish do not require quite as much attention as their four-legged counterparts, marine pets are not as easy to raise as everybody seems to think. If a fish is to thrive and survive in your care, you must make sure the water in your aquarium is the right temperature, is free of chlorine, and has a low pH level. Failure to adequately prepare the water for your fish will ultimately lead to their death, likely after several weeks of illness and lethargy. Experienced aquarists may be…

Some people believe that Sea World is a greedy, profit-seeking organization that couldn’t care less about the treatment and well-being of their animals, but the truth is, the animals are in the best possible care. If the orcas or any other animal at Sea World were anywhere else, they would not get the attention and care they need to survive. Sea World’s reputation was tarnished severely by the documentary, Blackfish, in 2013. “This documentary claims that life at Sea World is cruel and harsh for both the trainers and the whales and that they have attempted to cover up the truth about many incidents involving their whales; both are false (Truth About Blackfish, Sea World Cares.com). Kyle Kittleson, a former marine mammal trainer for Sea World, states, “the documentary, Blackfish, is about 15% correct; one of those facts being in Sea Worlds earlier times, like the 60’s and 70’s, people had a different…

Not to mention how pesky dog and cat hair is. Isn’t it so annoying when it gets all over the carpet and furniture? That means no lint rollers to get the hair off your clothes or off the couch before grandma gets here. Another advantage to a gold fish is there are no messes to clean up. With that in mind, there would be no long walks when it is cold or raining outside. This means no worrying about the fish running away from home. Which means no looking for a stinky fish at three in the morning or having to deal with “lost fish” flyers?…
