Theories and Methods Most of us like to hear stories, mainly as a kid, we are amused by what stories our parents or grandparents tell us. Stories are told to mainly to entertain us, but in a religious family, a myth can be told to teach or preach an idea. Normally, a myth would be told from a book written by a follower or a “supernatural being”. Religion is primarily based upon ones beliefs in the supernatural and what ever beliefs they hold dear to them, is completely up to them. Each person has their own faith in a certain type of religion, and more than likely, their religion is based on influences by family members or friends. Without a religion, humans wouldn't have anything to put their faith in. There would be no rules they would have to follow to satisfy their god. Even though humans aren’t considered “Gods” there are some that create close bonds with a god of their choice. They devote many years pleasing and gaining knowledge from the god so that he or she can become one with him and preach to others what he has learned over the years. People have the final decision whether or not an object becomes sacred in the religious world. Anything a religious group deems suitable and meets the requirements to become apart of their sacred relics, will become sacred and the people will worship it without question because the religious leader, who is a human being said that the item is sacred. Now that the religious leader has said it is sacred, the item now deemed sacred has meaning to everybody in the religion. If the religious leader says that a pumpkin is sacred, the people will worship a pumpkin. No item in a religion has been brought by a supernatural being or power. Religious texts aren’t sent from above, they are all written by people. Religious texts are usually myths told by the members of organization. They gather all of the myths and create a book that regulates their lives.
