Reflective Essay: A Career As A Writer

Writing is a skill one must diligently work towards to master. However everyone is different therefore there is no one set of rules to mastering the skill of writing. There are many different writing methods and styles and it is up to the writer to determine which best fits them. Take me for an example when writing a essay I rarely waste time prewriting, now I know some writers would cringe at the thought of skipping the prewriting stage, but I find it easier to sit in a quiet space for a while and let the thoughts and ideas flow through me before I begin to write my papers. However I know my method may not work for everyone it is perfect for me.

I also feel that it is mandatory for me to stay motivated in order to succeed. Nothing worth having is easy to acquire ,and with that being said I know that bad habits such as failure to attend class, failure to take notes and properly pay attention during a lecture, and failure to complete all assignments to the best of my ability will not help me achieve my goal of becoming a better writer. Attending all lessons, taking good notes, asking questions, and having an open mind are all qualities that will help me succeed in being a better writer, and to do well in this class.
Good writing is a rare skill that takes time to master. I feel that taking this class is the first step in my long journey to becoming a good writer. With a positive mind set, a good work ethic, and perseverance I am confident that I can accomplish both my goal of becoming a better writer, and doing well in my first college English class.
