Reflection: Improving Fieldwork
I am so sorry. I misunderstood the question. I thought the question was asking "How did u see yourself doing at your fieldwork during these 2 weeks?" On the first week, I was struggle with communication as I talked quietly. I could not obtain all the information that I needed from the patients during evaluations. However, i did speak louder and communicated with patients well on my second week after my supervisor critiqued and provided me feedback how to communicate well with older populations. I saw myself gradually improved at my fieldwork placement. That's the reason why I marked "improving."

My fieldwork experience is great to date at the VA. My supervisor and other therapists in the clinic do help me and teach me whenever I have questions.

My results also show that I am a very supportive communicator. I focus on employee’s welfare with lots of feedbacks and recognition and no conflicting demands. I also feel that I do very well in that area and I will continue to improve upon what I already have that’s my strength to lessen my negatives in communication. Negatively, I think I have to better balance between being too lean as a communicator and being too aggressive. Also I need to keep being consistent with my communication tone and body language as…

This article, “The RU-486 Abortion Pill Should Be Available to Women”, was written by Laura Fraser in 2001 for the Greenhaven Press. The issue involved with this article is whether or not the RU-486 abortion pill should be available to women in the U.S.. The conclusion Fraser came up with was yes, the RU-486 abortion pill should be available to women in the U.S., and for plenty of reasons. For example, if mifepristone becomes available, it will remove political and practical barriers so women can get abortions and physicians will not have to perform complete abortions. Also, 54% of all…

This is a reflective essay based on my experiences whilst on my six week medical placement on a haematology ward at a local hospital. The aim of this essay is to discuss the psychological and sociological impact on the family when a loved one dies, and then focus on how the nurse supported the husband and relatives through their loss. I chose this particular incident as I felt very strongly about the care given to this patient shortly before her death, and felt the need to reflect on it further.…

For this fieldwork report, I had the privilege of observing my high school Radio and Broadcasting teacher. I graduated from Piper High School in 2013 and I had Mr. Jon Farley as my Radio and Broadcasting teacher for two years. Radio and Broadcasting provide students with instruction in radio broadcasting and management. Piper High School is one of the few schools that allows students to run a live radio station. According to the course syllabus, “WKPX is a real live radio station broadcasting to all Broward County and part of Dade and Palm Beach with 10,000 plus listeners. The radio program gives students the opportunity to help run a live radio station”.…

Flipping through a pile of handouts on the theries of learning, none seemed to offer a straight-jacked answer to the scenario that had occurred in the class that day. My mentor had been approached and rudely told off by a student that morning that all she does in the class is shout at the top of her voice and set the class in disarray. You can imagine how bad she felt. And I certainly did sympathise with her but at the same time, the incidence at hand gave me something to go home and really think about, and at the same time rained insight on the importance of reflective practice to the student teacher.…

The social work method I could use is that of reflective practice as I believe that coming into a new profession one will be faced with various new challenges and it is from these challenges that one gains experience and becomes a better practitioner. The process of reflection according to Knott, Christine and Scragg, Terry (2010) yields positive results by learning, gaining knowledge and understanding what it is that you need to do. Reflective practice is also an opportunity for personal and ongoing professional development which is one of the codes of practice that each and every social worker should adhere to. It is through reflection that one can avoid past mistakes as looking back and learning from these ensures that we will not repeat them.…

The assembly at the International Research Conference for Nursing Students (IRCoNS) is, indeed, a mind opening opportunity for all of us student nurses especially to us, 3rd year students, who are now in the phase of doing research projects. Though it is not our first time to do a research, this time around we are more challenged to do well in our research paper and come with a better research output. The topics that have been discussed in the conference had enabled us to become more knowledgeable about nature of research. Nonetheless, the conference had not only provided us the knowledge about the nature of research but it had also allowed us to see the importance of research in the nursing profession. Likewise, conference had brought us encouragement in conducting our research and it had actually motivated me to try doing researches regarding health care in the future.…
