Red Queen Book Report
My book is Red Queen. It is written by Victoria Aveyard. My favorite part in the book is at the end when Mare and Cal are sentenced to death. They are fighting people with powers. Cal’s power is fire. He can make little fireballs and hurl them at people. Mare’s power is lightning. You see, people who have powers need it already there for them to work with it. Like with Cal, his power is fire right? Well he need a spark to create something bigger. With Mare though she can just make lightning she doesn’t even need a thunderstorm to create deadly lightning bolts. She has RED blood, they have SILVER. Reds aren’t supposed to have powers, but she does. Strange ones at that.

Mare is from the Stilts. Their king is mean, and sends Reds to fight a

If she makes any mistakes at all she will be killed, and a lie will be made up to cover their tracks. Mare joins a rebellion called the Scarlet Guard. Soon Maven joins too. When they go to attack the Capitol everything backfires. They get overthrown. When Mare gets captured she is captured with Cal, Maven’s brother. It turns out that Maven never actually joined the rebellion, but was planning a rebellion himself. When Mare and Cal are put on trial, Maven’s mother uses her power (she’s a whisper) to control Cal and make him kill the King. They have a video showing him doing this so that they will get sentenced to death. They are brought into the ring. They are up against five people, and Mare got her powers taken away. They fight, and they fight hard. They end up winning. Then a ton of Sentinels come in and there are probably like 500 of them. Mare backs up to the water well in the arena. The Rebellion comes up and shoots down all of them. The when Mare falls into the pit someone comes and saves her, but she’s unconscious. When she wakes up she’s in a train with Farley, and Cal. But someone is still holding onto her. She turns around, and there he is. Shade perfectly well, and alive. She decides she is going to kill Maven. That is my

All throughout Maoist China, everyone studied the Little Red Book. It was a book that was filled with Mao’s quotations. The Little Red Book symbolizes the societal worship of Mao in China at the time. The Little Red Book is both a product of this worship and a symbol of it. Everyone was expected to know these quotations, as that was a trait of an ideal person in Maoist society. According to Anchee Min, many would study these quotations religiously, as seen when Little Coffin invited Anchee Min to a Mao quotation study seminar.
