The Reconstruction of 1865 had a lot of successes and failures. Many of the successes and failures are going to be expressed in this essay, as so After the civil war, just about everything was destroyed. Homes, Businesses, Railroads were all destroyed. The Reconstruction plan was to rebuild everything that was in ruins or demolished completely. Freedmen’s Bureau was a success created by President Lincoln that was passed on March 3rd 1865. It was an act of kindness that gave all ex slaves’ legal food and housing, oversight, education, health care, and employment contracts with private landowners. Another success that made the reconstruction plan more valuable was the Laws. These Laws let the freedmen have a say and vote in president elections or any public votes. It also said that they had Equal right when wanting to sit on a bus or using a public restroom. The Ku Klux Klan was a horrible failure that a group of anti blacks who wore robes and masks and pretended to be the ghosts of the Confederate soldiers. They were scared of changes, and the rising rights of the African Americans, who they wanted to be laborers and slaves. Poverty was another failure that gave the Reconstruction plan a bad “ego”. It Was a Global issue for white southerners who had lost their land because of poverty. It also kept the newly freedmen from getting job opportunities; they were trapped in a poverty cycle. Black Codes were used at the beginning of the Reconstruction, where as freedmen, the blacks still had pressure about things like when to meet with friends. They were restrictions on the way a freedman should live. Jim Crow Laws is a Law that goes against the rights that were given in the 13th 14th and 15th Amendments, it discriminated and supported racial segregation.
