Reasons Why Animal Testing Should Be Banned
“Humans and animals have the same destiny, One dies just like the other. All of them have the same breath of life. Humans have no advantage over animals. All of life is pointless. All life goes to the same place. All life comes from the ground, and all of it goes back to the ground.” Ecclesiastes 3:19-20 (Bible) Now, what is animal testing? Well, animal testing is any scientific test or experiment in which a life animal is forced to undergo something that is likely to cause pain, suffering, distress, lasting harm, and/or death. Animal testing should be banned, some reasons of why it to be banned are; it’s inhumane, humans and animals have different DNA, and only a few medical breakthroughs came from animal testing. One reason why animal testing is inhumane is that animals are similar to us humans. For example, from the article, “The long fight against animal testing” by Peter Tatchell, it said, “Macaques (And other monkeys) are intelligent, social animals, language, reasoning, emotions, improvisation, planning, empathy, tool-use, and the capacity to feel both physical and psychological pain.” This proves that animals are just humans, just in their own world. Another thing that makes it inhumane is that the animals are locked in Solitary Confinement, or locked in a cell alone. Now, …show more content…
In the Article, The long fight against Animal testing, by Peter Tatchell, it said, “The medical breakthroughs from animal testing (Including blood transfusions, insulin, anesthetics, penicillin antibiotics) could have been done through non-animal experimentation if it had been equally well funded. Also from that exact same article, it said, “There are 700 treatments for stroke that work in laboratory animals, but only 1 worked on humans.” This proves that testing on animals isn’t beneficial to humans. Therefore, testing on animals for medical breakthroughs is completely

Though animal testing should be banned from ever being practiced or used again, people still view it as a necessity despite all of the evidence against it. Animal testing requires inhumane, unsanitary, unsafe, or cruel conditions that if done to humans would be outlawed since they either reduce the quality of life or cause disease or death. Seeing that animals are living, breathing creatures that want to survive just as much as people do, assuming that test conditions are not good for human kind, then they are not good for any living creatures. Furthermore, they are inherently wrong by nature. Tolerating animal cruelty promotes the same insensitivity that allows cruelty to people, such as serial killers and the early incidents of animal torture.…

Animal testing is cruel and an inhumane way to torture animals for mankind's own benefit. There have been millions of animals that have suffered a vicious, painful death in the name of research. Lastly there are alternatives to Animal Testing such as computer modeling, As science continues to transform our world beyond what we know, and technology continues to transform and expand upon what we depend on. Medical research and testing will also transition to embrace and…

The article Animal Testing is Bad states, “Animals are being with feelings, thoughts, and families”(Elena1). They have a right to live peacefully and are not just subjects that should be tested on. Even though animals are a bit different from human, people cant kill them for their own sake. Animal testing has always been a big issue around the world. Some people think that it is okay for animals to be tested on while others don’t. What even is animal testing? Animal testing is where scientists find new medications and test them on the animals before humans. Why might scientists test them on animals first? So, that if something goes wrong, only the animal would suffer and not a human. I am a critic for animal testing. I believe that animals have a purpose to the world just as much as humans do. Even if people don’t like rodents, that doesn’t mean we need to try and potentially kill them. Animals are very important to this world just like everyone else.…

Nevertheless, as I am not exactly experienced in the medical field, I managed to do some research, and eventually found a rather interesting quote said by two doctors, Ray and Jean Greek, who briefly mentioned the necessity of animal testing in their book Sacred Cows and Golden Geese. They said: "Animal experimentation is not necessary. It is expensive. It is inaccurate. It is misleading. It consumes limited resources. And further, it is detrimental to the very species it professes to be working to help --…

Animal testing is rarely successful since animals have different physiologies than humans. There has been many studies that have shown inaccuracy and unsuccess in animal testing. Studies show, “90 percent of medications approved for human use after animal testing later proved ineffective or harmful to humans in clinical trials” (Stop Animal Testing) and also, “Animal-tested drugs have killed, disabled or harmed millions of people and lead to costly delays as well” (Stop Animal Testing). It is evident that animal testing lacks accuracy and has dangerous consequences, therefore it should no longer be…

In animal testing, countless animals are experimented on and then killed after their use is up. Some are injured and will still live the remainder of their life in captivity. The doctors will not do anything to help the animals that are in pain that happen to be the reason because of them. It is the aspect of animals testing that many view as a major negative against the practice, as it seems that the animal died in vain because no direct benefit to humans occurred. Even though animals and humans have many things in common like how we both have the same organ system, there are also many things that are different between animals and humans. Many animals cannot handle or take the same medication as humans, most the surgeries that are operated on animals are just too strong for an animal to take so they end up dying or sick for the rest of their lives. (Animal Testing…

Animal testing is a very controversial practice, involving the testing of new substances on animals to see how safe they will be for human use. (Vasen, 2011) Research has uncovered many cures for deathly diseases through animal testing. For over 2000 years cures for diseases such as Herpes, Hepatitis B, Rabies, Malaria, Polio and other such viruses have been created, through the use of testing the chemicals on animals such as mice, rabbits, cats, dogs or monkeys. (Shandilya, 2011) Animal Testing holds much criticism, and gets much scrutiny from anti Animal-Testing groups such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and CAAT (Coalition to Abolish Animal Testing). The controversy behind animal testing is that there are so many petitions against animal testing and some people go as far as to not consume products like toothpaste or…

Since the begin of time, humans believe they have authority over any living organism. As a result of their thought process they also believe that it is okay to test harmful material and chemicals on animals because they are not human beings. Animal testing is wrong and should be illegal because it is cruel to the animal, the tests are not always accurate and there are alternative ways to test products that do not need to be tested on animals. Testing on animals is cruel. It is cruel because it is subjecting animals, that feel like people do, to extreme pain and torture.…

Cancer, Down syndrome, heart problems, diabetes, and others are some of the main diseases scientists are trying to find cures for. The other side to animal testing can potentially save lives by finding cures for these life threatening diseases. This is why some parts of animal testing are so vital to our health systems and patients. Many universities use animals to test in different types of training programs. At the University of Michigan nursing students used a cat to practice putting a tube into its windpipe. The goal of the procedure was for nurses working on survival flights to be able to perform the procedure to patients in critical condition. The cat was later adopted into a family and was not harmed at all (Kozlowski). Although this particular procedure seems harmless to the cat and sounds painless campaigns continued to protest against using live animals and PETA continued to press the subject. They wanted them to replace using live animals with simulators which virtually does the same thing (Kozlowski). Tests like this that are done seem so minuet compared to others that are used for finding cures. Animal testing for human health has been said to be unsafe, unreliable, and expensive. On the contrary there have been cases where animal testing for medical reasons has in fact found vaccines and cures. From 1940 to 1960 polio was one of the most popular and well known diseases. Due to the research conducted on…

“Frankie Trull, science advocate and President of the Foundation for Medical Research says, “An immediate end to animal research in the U.S. would be a death sentence for millions of people around the world,” (Ericson, 2014, b).” The reality is, many of today's advancements in research have come from animal testing. No matter how many trials they took, most advancements were at least started with animal testing and grew from there. All vaccines, chemotherapy, MRI’s, blood transfusions, dialysis, transplants, bypass surgery, joint replacements, and many other medical treatments were brought from research that started with animal testing (Ericson, 2014, a). This being said, as long as animal testing is accepted in laboratories, medical advancements can and will continue. If animal testing were to be abolished, research for many diseases would come to an alarming halt. Most scientists say that animal testing is a major key to research in genetic engineering and the study of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and an end to it would make research in these fields impossible (Ericson, 2014, a). It's argued that without animal testing, cures for these diseases would be impossible to find and research wouldn't be able to…
