Japanese animations have been my favorite of all times. It has always been pleasing to my eyes. The word people call for Japanese animation is Anime. I never thought we watched an Anime in Animation 101 class. So on 8th October, we watched Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpiece film called Spirited Away in behind the scenes. The synopsis of the film is that a young girl, Chichiro, stumbles into the land of the spirits (the place with Japanese’s folklores), where her parents are transformed into pigs, and to save them, she herself must get a job in the bathhouse owned by the witch Yubaba. By watching the whole process, Miyazaki combines the film with characters from Japanese’s legends or myth; it led to fabulous and affecting fictional narratives from the characters.
It seems that Miyazaki has made a world that has all the potency of any actual myth and the same capacity for evoking a real sense of curiosity with entirely on its own. I think it’s because his drawing on motifs and various details present in Japanese’s legend and folklore.
Miyazaki has created fascinating characters. Chihiro seems very realistically portrayed girl and is one the great characters of narrative art. The process of creating her takes a lot of hard work. He has to get an insight into the minds of children and the ways children act and react. Also, He has to find the best suitable voice for the character. The inhabitants and guests of the bathhouse are nicely done as well. For example, the spider-like man to frog-like man are displayed a unique personality that adds, even if it’s small, to the film’s attraction.
All these elements are so able to mesmerize the audiences that Spirited Away is often affecting. The film brings a sense of awe and deep world that is hidden beyond the human world. From the exaggerated expressions of other characters to Chihiro’ maturing face, the film shows more emotion in a single frame. Miyazaki has balanced all the various details and elements so that each

In this film, Miyazaki also uses his fantastic imagination to create an unreality world but it reflects lots of problems in the real world (Napier, 2006). Moreover, as Noriko stated, in the Spirited Away, the main character who is a little girl called Chihiro (2006). The girl and her parents get lost and get inside a magic world. Hayao Miyazaki: Auteur

Miyazaki is probably one of the most influential directors of Japanese animation - or anime - of all time, with his distinctive drawing style and strong story-telling prevailing in all of his works to date, hailing him as an auteur. His distinguished style of directing is what sets him apart from other filmmakers giving almost all of his animated works an overall epic feel to them as his films are characterised by several recurring themes and motifs. One such recurring theme is Miyazaki’s emphasis on environmentalism and the Earth's fragility. In Miyazaki's most recent film Ponyo (2008), Ponyo's father shows disgust for humans and their filth, evident by the disgusting condition of the bay area where Sosuke lives. This ecological consciousness is echoed in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984) as the world’s ecosystem is ravaged due to an apocalyptic war where humans are slowly dying out. Miyazaki’s concern for the environment is strong as he had grown up in the Shōwa period in Tokyo, Japan and it was an unhappy time for him because, "nature — the mountains and rivers — was being destroyed…

Elizabeth Bishop’s “The Hanging of the Mouse”, places animals in the roles of humans in reference to an execution. The writer uses animals to replace humans to possibly convey a message or point of view towards the death penalty. In the story, the mouse is being executed for what we believe is some sort of crime. It isn’t clear whether or not the mouse actually committed a crime, but we are led to believe that an act occurred in which caused the mouse to be executed on this particular day.…

Spirited Away (千と千尋の神隠し, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi) is a 2001 film by the Japanese anime studio Studio Ghibli, written and directed by famed animator Hayao Miyazaki. Its original Japanese title can be translated as The Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro or Sen and the Spiriting Away of Chihiro. However the name also forms a pun, with "Sen to Chihiro" sounding like "Sentou Chihiro", which means "Bath-house Chihiro". In Japan the film is commonly referred to simply as "Sen".…

Let me start by saying that this movie is a groundbreaking original and a must see for anyone from the elderly to children over the age of ‘cartoons don't make me cry anymore.' This wondrous and wonderful animated feature, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, makes even the most recent American cartooning - Disney included - seem ordinary and unexciting. But it's not just the amazing technical artistry – the decorated scenery, the sense of depth, dimension and detail that this great Japanese animator and his team have created – it's the story.…

Miyazaki’s adoption of Jone’s children novel howl’s moving castle is undoubtedly the largest theatrical release of an animation in Japan. However, most importantly a critical approach to the film giving consideration to its source allows us to study Miyizaki’s version as a transformative adoption. Though the film retains most of its elements from the novel, Miyizaki adds a novel component of to the account: war. Sophie, the main protagonist in the novel, is a shop attendant cursed by a beautiful villainous witch (Jones). The curse makes her look like an old crone. Instead of seeking help from relatives and friends, Sophie opts to seek the help of a wizard who lives in a moving castle in order to free her from the curse. Her plan finally succeeds.…

My intent of this analysis is to gain a better understanding of how design principles are used in animated movies. Since nothing in an animation movie is technically “real”, there is, in theory, no way to invoke the same emotions from audience as you would through a “live action” movie. In a “live action” movie, it is not uncommon to have actors improvising in various scenes, but the same cannot be executed within the processes of an animated film. In this essay, I aim to approach the methods of obtaining the same emotions invoked from an “live action” film in an animated film from an analytical point of view.…

Strategy is the most important and highest risk activity of an organization's leadership. Whether small or large, very few organizations and leaders understand what it takes to create an effective and useful strategic plan. Terminology is often confusing, plan documents gather dust, and planning processes get bogged down without effective implementation. Too often, the result of an investment in strategic planning is an organizational cynicism and resulting detachment between the strategic plan and the day-to-day realities of the organization. (Ron Price, 2006)…
