God wanted Africans to be slaves. “To make free those whom God has doomed to be slaves…” According to McDuffie’s argument, God created Africans to be nothing but slaves and the only way African Americans could get out of that was if they changed the color of their skin. Different owners or masters treat their slaves differently especially if their good slaves. For example, if a slave picks a lot of cotton, then that would double the amount that they are worth. Just from being “African American”, the “whites” think they were considered slaves. Sometimes, the slaves were given new names every time they were sold, whether they agreed to it or not. And, if they made too much noise or made conversation, they could end up losing their life.
The third purpose of slavery was free labor. Working on a big plantation like they did, having slaves to work for them was much cheaper. Slaves would be outside all day until night time.
