Public service announcements are"used to display at a message to the public".Some feel they are not worth the cost.well i think Public service announcements are " used to display a message to the public" why? Because there giving messages out to the people that drink and drive to show them how its dangerous and how its effecting underage kids to not drink and drive.According to passage one it says."PSAs are mainly used to teach a lesson to young people. along with drinking and driving and drug use, PSAs have been made for smoking , forest fires, recycling , and a range of other topics". According to the sentence i think PSAs are a great source to children and how to teach them to not drink and drive.

The first and final reason why I believe that PSAs are beneficial is because they change the young kids or teen's mind about drinking while driving or about smoking. If a kid or a young teen watches a PSA on the television and they ever get in a situation which concludes drinking while driving or smoking they will change their minds and make the right decision. According to Passage 1, "Their goal was to have a PSA that would stay in the minds of teens, and then keep them from drinking and…

The goal of this persuasive PSA is to stand up to cancer. The video told us the odds of people becoming an astronaut, getting struck by lightning, etc., and at the end, they told us the odds of getting cancer, which was more likely than the other examples. They then told us that we should stand up to cancer if we didn't like the odds. The PSA's goals are reasonable. Standing up to cancer would be a change the audience would make. I would find it unreasonable if the PSA's goal was to make the audience members find a cure for cancer or donate large amounts of money since the audience members are mostly all teenagers.…

Public Health Advertising informs the public on health concerns in a specific community or area. The most recent public health scare is Ebola entering the United States. The Department of Defense released fliers with information on the infectious disease and asking for people with the symptoms to seek medical attention and become quarantines. It reads in capital and bold lettering that “Ebola is a deadly virus. It spreads quickly, claiming the lives of many” (Ebola 2010). The tone for the aid is serious and cautious. The advisory educates the public and pushes the public to use preventatives to stop the spread of Ebola, As well as, report any outbreak of the disease. The fear of death makes the aid effective since nobody wants to die. The fact that Ebola has entered the United…

Education campaigns are a widely used method of sharing information with consumers. According to the Centers for Disease Control National Prevention Information Network (CDCNPIN) “Health communication can take many forms, both written and verbal, traditional outlets and new media outlets” ("Communication," 2013, p. 1). Public health campaigns found huge success when posters, placed for widespread viewing, helped reduce injuries and the spread of disease. Tuberculosis (TB) posters educated citizens about covering their mouths when they coughed or sneezed to help minimize the spread of TB.…

Think about watching tv and while you are waiting for your show to come back on, you see an ad. Even when you are watching a video online and an ad pops up. We have seen all types of ads: the one that makes you want to buy a new car, the one that tells you to watch the new show that will be up in two weeks, or the ones that tells you to buy this new product. However, you get that one ad that talks about serious topic and want you to know what is going on. The ad is telling you this so you can do something about or just to enlighten you with more information about the topic that is present. The PSA (public service announcement) I saw online was just like that, but this ad stood out to me. A lot of people of people have heard the word autism before, but are not sure what is means. This video was about a boy named Jacob Sanchez who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. Jacob tells us a story on why he does the things he does due to the autism. He tells us what troubles him and what he doesn’t like. He speaks for this actions and tells us that he has a different way of seeing things than people who don’t have autism. He tells his action because his actions are the sign of autism. The PSA wants the public to know that the…

After reading Mark Edmundson’s article, “Who are you and what you are doing here?” in Oxford America magazine published on 22 August 2011, I chose to create my Public Service Announcement (PSA) as a poster. In the article, by telling his own story and discussing some false perception of the purpose of higher education which is “a mean to an end”, Edmundson has sent a message: education helps you to become the one you yourself want to. The article has inspired me to come up with the idea about my poster and I believe that with my PSA, you will deeply get into the author’s point as I did. In my PSA, I will use words and symbolic images to express my perspective on this issue. In this critical analysis, I will explain the rhetorical choices I made including the audience, purpose, genre and the organization.…

    Example Of PSA Analysis

One PSA (Public Service Announcement), that immediately comes to mind, as to being very good is the, “This is your brain on drugs” PSA from the campaign by, Partnership for a Drug-Free America in 1987 (Blistein, 2014). When I first saw this PSA, I was already five years sober. That said, alcohol was my ‘drug of choice’ (problem area), not typical drugs. Still, this PSA scared me to death. I have never forgotten it. I tried to find an article regarding perceived attitudes and drugs before seeing a PSA. Since I already was afraid of drugs and already sober, the PSA had more of an impact, in other words, I already had an established frame of mind or attitude, so seeing this aligned with what I already believed. [If that makes sense]. I believe this might contribute to why I think it is good or effective. Showing the fried egg, is something I that I had learned that drugs do, ‘drugs will fry your brain’ is something I believed. In fact, it is a phrase that I have used and still use to this day. In addition, showing a visual and using fear to evoke others to come on board with the idea is not new. For example, my example for a PSA that is not so good, is the gal who must talk through the hole in her throat. I think this PSA goes overboard, in other words, it shows too much reality. Perhaps, the audio when have been enough. I know so many others that have turned the channel when this was…

Advertising is a form of communication for marketing used to encourage, persuade or manipulate the audience to continue or take new actions. Throughout the years advertisement has played a big part in the growth and popularity of many products in our country. Since the 1920’s advertisements have been used for cars, clothes, food and materialistic things that people want or think they have to have. In the mix of all these advertisements, alcohol is the most used, sought after, and dangerous advertisement in the industry. After the prohibition the safety of the people has been the number one concern since alcohol hit the streets. Where we place the advertisement has more of an impact on society and community than the advertisement does on its own brand.…
