An Interest Group is basically a group of people or an organization who share a common or like interest and work together to help and promote that set interest by getting the government on board. There are also several different types of interests groups. They vary from public interest groups to Ideological groups. They all are different but can have a similarity in how they do things.
Public Interest Groups
These types of groups are really made for the public. The members think about the public more than themselves interests. They represent the public interest well. I have chosen The Heritage Foundation to talk about. They support certain political perspectives. They work together on issues with their deeply driven beliefs. I have chosen Christian Coalition. “The Coalition is a political organization, made up of pro-family Americans who care deeply about ensuring that government serves to strengthen and preserve, rather than threaten, our families and our values. To that end, we work continuously to identify, educate and mobilize Christians for effective political action.” They are there for the people and there to defend people of faith. They want to protect families and believers of Christ. “The Christian Coalition is committed to representing the pro-family agenda and educating Americans on the critical issues facing our society. Whether it is the fight to end Partial Birth Abortion or efforts to improve education or lower the family's tax burden, the Christian Coalition stands ready and able to work for you.” I think this interest group is good because they do outreach to the community to try to show them things. They try to teach the people about how important pro-family is and how it’s not right to have a baby
