Materials and Procedures: Results and Discussions: Test for Carbohydrates Result Starch suspension When the yellowish-brown iodine was added into the starch suspension, the starch suspension was changed into dark blue. Potato slide Discussion Starch suspension When the yellowish-brown iodine was added into the starch suspension, the starch suspension was changed into dark blue. This is due to the yellowish-brown iodine changed into dark blue when there is a presence of starch. This shows a positive test for starch. Potato slide Many dark blue spots were visible under the microscope after the slide was irrigated with iodine. The formation of dark blue spots are the result of there is a presence of starch granules in the potato cells. This shows a positive test for starch. Discussion In the test tube that containing water, no cloudiness was observed Test for nucleic acid Result Discussion When the slide of onion epidermis that was stained with aceto-orcein stain was viewed under the microscope, it was found that each cell contained one red spot. These red spots contained nucleic acid and were actually the nucleus of the cell. Test for protein Result After the boiling tube that containing the egg white and sodium hydroxide solution was heated in the water bath, the egg white which was a white solid was dissolved to form a light yellow solution. The solution was then changed from light yellow to blue to dark purple
