Pros Of Animal Testing
End Tortures of Cosmetic Testing According to Animals in Research, an estimate of 25 million animals, worldwide, are used and killed through animal experimentation every year. Every single day, tons of animals die due to the exposure of chemicals in cosmetics. Over the past few years, technology has greatly expanded, becoming more powerful and smarter than the average human being. With technology being so advanced, why hasn’t animal experimentation been kicked to the curb? Technology has given the power to stop animal testing and test chemicals in such way that will not hurt a living creature. Animal testing for the cosmetic industry is not beneficial due to physical differences between humans and animals, cost and other …show more content…
Those $12 billion come straight from taxpayer money. America could use the money in a more efficient way than animal experimentation. Using non-animal tests as an alternative can give more accurate results and it can be more economical. Many different options are available when it comes to testing ingredients and chemicals in cosmetics for companies. These options according to Animal Testing on Cosmetics include; use ingredients that have already been tested and are confirmed to be safe, use non-animal testing, or start testing on human …show more content…
There are several limitations to animal testing, such as, the physical differences between an animal and human skin. Human skin can be more sensitive to certain chemicals than animal skin. Many times, some chemicals pass the test with animals but not with humans. Using alternatives to animal testing can give more accurate results and it is cheaper. Many cosmetic companies that insure the animals being tested on are not treated poorly, but in reality they are. Hundreds of animals die every day due to the fact that people pour so much chemicals onto their skin to test toxicity levels. Animals cannot talk and that is why people need to be their voices. Consumers have the power to stop animal testing by not buying animal tested products. Experimentation on animals is unnecessary and cruel. Even though there are some animals who share an enormous amount of DNA with humans, human skin still differs from animal

Animal testing on cosmetics is morally inept and other alternatives need to be used. Cosmetics are made using several different molecular and chemical compound ingredients which can be toxic or have dangerous side effects if not tested. In 1938 Congress passed the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic act due to public outrage after many people experienced death or injuries from untested products. According to the FDA animals are tested for “how much of a drug or biologic is absorbed into the blood, how a medical product is broken down chemically in the body, the toxicity of the product and its breakdown components (metabolites),” and “how quickly the product and its metabolites are excreted from the body.”…

Early on, the elimination of animal testing was unfeasible because it was the only available source. However, technology advancements in the late 20th and early 21st centuries have introduced alternative methods that are often cheaper and more relevant to humans. William Russell and Rex Burch first introduced the 3R’s of animal research in 1959. These R’s stand for the reduction, refinement, and replacement of the use of animals in research and testing. Many alternative methods that have come forward follow these ethics. More than 40 alternatives have been validated and approved world-wide with many more under way. There are a variety of cell-based skin tests, called EPISKIN, EpiDerm, and SkinEthic that can be used to assess the safety of drugs, chemicals, and cosmetics on humans. Organs-on-chips contain human cells grown in a system that mimics the structure and function of human organs. Researchers have also developed computer models that predict and show the ways drugs react to the human body. According to the former scientific executive of Huntingdon Life Sciences, animal tests and human tests agree 5-25 percent of the time, while cell culture toxicology, another alternative form of animal testing, agrees 80-85 percent of the time.…

Many animals are subject to inhumane conditions and procedures in the “name of science”. Animals are used for testing in everything from that trendy matte red lipstick from Covergirl Cosmetics to medical lab testing used to correctly identify the antibody signaling an immune response in lab rats. Animal testing has a vast range of uses with little to no rules identifying the treatment the animal subject to testing is subjected to. Many different brands, especially cosmetic brands, have cruelty-free stickers on their products to let the customer know the product was produced without harm to animals. The United States of America has not limited the use of animal testing yet, however, the European Union has limited animal testing and banned the use of testing on animals on cosmetics and cosmetic ingredients (European…

My first reason is testing animals helps put an end to human suffering. According to an article on Controversy of Animal Testing, "It is preferred that animals suffer as opposed to a human, with the aim of reducing human suffering." I agree that without knowing if a cosmetic would be safe would create more human suffering. Without knowing if a chemical could kill you or physically harm you or not would a really bad thing. And think about it if animals weren't our "test dummies" then we could be washing our face with a face cleanser and our skin could just come off, or we could get really sick from chemicals.…

Animal testing on cosmetics should be banned. People are put in jail all the time for abusing their pets, but people are never put in jail for inhumane testing of cosmetics and other pharmaceuticals on these same animals. I have done a lot of research on animal testing and methods we can use that are more effective and don’t use animals through high school in my free time because of curiosity, so I know a lot of random facts about the harmful nature of this and alternative methods. Animals are being tortured to “help” make better medicine and, the majority of the time does not affect people the same way as animals. Animal testing is inhumane and ineffective the majority of the time, it should be banned.…

Scientists never express their thoughts about testing cosmetics on animals. Nature surveyed a thousand biomedical scientists, over seventy percent of those scientists conduct experiments on animals. About ninety percent of those scientists felt that animal testing is important in scientific improvements but they also said that they are concerned about the well being of the animal. When they test them they try and use little as many animals as they can and they treat them with respect.…

Banning these chemical experiments will stop animals from being tortured and killed and would save their lives. Studies show that in the United States, more than 100 million animals are being abused due to animal experimentation practices. These animals are being killed and nobody is doing enough to save them. The government is not doing enough to try and stop these tests. The products we use everyday are a luxury that we are blessed to have and be able to use everyday. They are so easy to use and the benefits are so great that people don’t really care how they are made before they hit the shelves. But not many people think about all the tests that the product had to go through to get on the store's shelves. Not many people think about the negatives of the product and all the test that are done on ANIMALS. Animals that are tested on are put through medical tests that could potentially kill them or harm them extremely. The beauty product industry and scientist should find a new way to test their products and drugs without the endangerment to animals.…

To test cosmetics, household cleaners and other consumer products hundreds of thousands of animals are poisoned, blinded and killed every year by cruel corporations. It’s ridiculous. According to the human society, registration of a single pesticide requires more than 50 experiments and the use of 12,000 animals. The animals are tested for 2 years.…

In fact, nearly 50 non-animal tests have been validated for use for, cosmetics and animal testers can use computer models. There are many alternatives, so why don’t we use them? There probably less expensive too. Also cosmetics could use ingredients that are already known to be safe. Cosmetics could use those ingredients that probably would be more reliable than testing on innocent animals. Equally important Europe has led the way by banning all animal testing in cosmetic products. Europe has chosen a more human path, at least for cosmetics why don’t we join them? Clearly There is an…
