Proposal for Personal Chef
Proposal for a Personal Chef to Residents of Alamo Heights
Due to inflation especially rising gas prices in the United States, the number of married couple families with both husband and wife employed has risen in recent years. Getting home late and the overall fatigue from their days activities have decreased the number family meals consumed in the home. More families are dining out or taking advantage of home delivery food services for survival.
I propose to provide these families with my services as a Personal Chef. I plan to travel to the client’s home as frequently as needed, frequency will be decided by the client and use my skills as a chef to prepare meals for their enjoyment keeping nutrition in mind. Menus will be decided by the client either by selections made from my portfolio of recipes or recipes of their own choosing. Typically if there is no time to cook there is no time to shop. I will offer services to purchase the product used in these meals from vendors of their choice or my own at total reimbursement to me. These totals will be provided to the client in a weekly billing statement which will include the receipts of each purchase. My services will be provided to clients at an hourly rate of $25.00 an hour plus expenses. This rate is subject to change if the number of diners presents at a meal changes. For example the client hosting a dinner party.
My business will be operated from my home at 9898 Colonnade Blvd. San Antonio, Texas 78230 with me alone as owner, operator/management, and chef. I feel this will benefit me greatly due to fact that office space is not needed. I’ve recently upgrade my personal computer with Microsoft Office which will be more than adequate for billing purposes.
I plan to target clientele in the 78209 zip code of San Antonio, Texas which includes Alamo Heights and a portion of Terrell Hills. Reason being the average family income in this area is $84,000 to $120,000 or better. I feel that these residents would be more

The American family system in particular has undergone numerous changes or shifts in the last 100 years. Some of the major shifts or changes can be seen in who the main financial contributor to the family’s income is. There is more acceptance and prevalence of single parent families. There is also more acceptance for same sex parents, and step-parents. Also the roles that each gender has within the family have changed considerably. There are now stay at home Dad’s, or both parents may work outside the home, and share the workload of household chores. These changes affect how families function both on the micro and macro level, and…

To truly understand the problem that America now faces let’s take a look back 40 some years and look at the way families ate. It was not uncommon in the ‘50s for the families to be gathering around the table and discussing the day’s events at dinner time. Mothers were often home to take care of the children and oversee what it was they were consuming because quite simply-they had the time. By ‘60s and ‘70s things were beginning to change, not only at home, but also in the food industry. The women that once took care of their children were now seeking jobs outside the home and this left little time to deal with all the responsibilities they once did. Families were on the “go” and the idea of eating out became more appealing or the home cooked meal was replaced with unhealthy convenience foods. Journalist Greg Critser (2004) speaks of the claims by USDA, “The American dollar spent on “food away from home” was 25 percent in 1970, 35 percent in 1985 and 40 percent by 1996” (p.32).…

In the past decade, there has been a 5% decrease in the total of traditional American family households, which includes a husband and wife and their children (Lofquist, Lugaila, O’Connell & Feliz, 2012). Not only has there has been a decline over the years, but the amount of traditional families in America is miniscule to begin with. In year 2000, it was recorded that out of 105 million households, approximately 25 million were composed of husband, wife and children; while in year 2010, it was recorded that out of 116 million households, approximately 23 million were traditional family households (Lofquist, Lugaila, O’Connell & Feliz, 2012). That is quite a significant decrease that demonstrates the idea that the traditional American family is slowly diminishing. The concept of an American family is changing from just a traditional nuclear family to a variety of different types of American families. However, there is also an overall decline of the American family concept, quality and importance. The decline of the American family is a result of divorce, cohabitation, technology and the economy.…
