This paper aims to apply linear optimization to production planning in the “Procesadora Torre Blanca” along the year 2011 with the objective of minimizing production costs and maintain inventories, taking into consideration the seasonal demand which has to be a company in the agribusiness and capacity constraints of machines, direct labor and inventory. For this purpose was the calculation of demand forecasting with a simple linear regression and the method of seasonal patterns. In developing the theme will be used mainly 2 programs computing such as Minitab 16, to calculate the coefficient of determination and general regression equation in addition to the LINDO 6.1, for solving the problem of linear programming. Currently working on an empirical and qualitative production scheduling in the company, so the use of linear programming is a great help when planning the production quantities of each product per month and thus have an optimal basis can be implemented thereafter. Keywords: Linear programming, Production Planning, Demand Forecasting, Seasonal patterns

One such factor is seasonal demand. Swimsuits sell better in the spring and summer months, whereas, snow shovels sell better in the fall and winter months. Recognition of this factor helps management avoid under and over estimating stock requirements. Knowing how much inventory is needed requires historical data and mathematical forecasting equations. The seasonal inventory system fills this role and provides management accurate seasonal inventory requirement…

In order for Guillermo to increase his profits, maintain his market share, and have an advantage over his competitors, he must look at alternative projects to improve business. The object of this paper is to make a recommendation for Guillermo to follow based on the financial analysis of the data presented and to evaluate three alternatives for Guillermo to consider. Once a course of action for Guillermo to follow is agreed upon, the team will analyze the financial data to support their recommendation, which will address the issue of foreign competition and labor cost. The analysis will focus on how the alternative chosen will help Guillermo increase profits over the next five years and lower all the costs involved in producing or distributing the furniture. The paper includes a Cash Flow Budget, including assumptions, which will be based on the projected sales and expense budget for the year and any capital investments the company projects over the next five years.…

Now the Acme De Mexico has completed the building process, it is now time to properly staff the store. The store manager, Mr. Rodriguez, has requested a minimum cost daily assignment schedule for the customer service employees at the new store. In order to have Acme De Mexico become a profitable business, it must make the best use of its resources (Jacobs & Chase, 2013). In this case the resources are time, money, and employees. In order to provide Mr. Rodriguez with the information he requested, linear programming will be utilized.…

The Outdoor Furniture Corporation manufactures two products: benches and picnic tables for use in yards and parks. The firm has two main resources: its carpenters (labor) and a supply of redwood for use in the furniture. During the next production period, 1200 hours of manpower are available under a union agreement. The firm also has a stock of 5000 pounds of quality redwood. Each bench that Outdoor Furniture produces requires 4 labor hours and 10 pounds of redwood; each picnic table takes 7 labor hours and 35 pounds of redwood. Completed benches yield a profit of $9 each, and tables a profit of $20 each. We formulated the following linear program to solve this problem: Decision Variables:…

From this data, as well as the data given on manufacturing methods and hours per method, a solution could be found utilizing the linear programming method of analysis. To analyze the data, the actual profit on each material was first calculated. This was done by taking the selling price and subtracting each cost associated with the given material. The results are $34.00 for the 75C, $30.00 for the 33C, $60.00 for the 5X, and $25.00 for the 7X. The next step was to determine how many constraints would be part of the analysis. There was determined to be 10 constraints in the analysis, 4 for the April orders, 4 for the manufacturing methods and 2 for the minimum orders promised by Vivian. With this data, the amount of each product to be produced to maximize profit for April could be determined. The results can be seen in Table 3.…
